Anyone familiar with Ft. Bliss/El Paso?

I'm flying out March 31 to help DB set up housekeeping...he gets there March 5 and will be in officer's quarters til then, but looking for an apartment.

Any ideas on apartments in nice, safe (dare I say upscale?) areas but not too awfully far from base? I think he is more interested in being near shopping/entertainment/restaurants/etc. than 5 minutes from work.

Hi!

I live in El Paso with DH. We have been here since May 05. and are leaving this May.
There are not a lot of really nice places near the base. We live on the Far East side of town (about a 20 minute drive to post if you go the interstate). We are in an apartment complex called Puerta Villa. It is very nice and in a safe and gated community. There are lots of restaurants and movie theaters and shopping within a few miles.
The West side is also very nice, with alot to do over there as well. Try going to apartmentguide.com and search El Paso and see what you come up with.
