We're leaving actually from San Marcos on a Friday night about 10pm. We're driving straight through to Orlando...

Can anyone tell me where we will be around breakfast and lunch time? I think we'll be about 3 hours past Baton Rouge in time for breakfast... but I don't know where that is, LOL! So then another 5-6 hours after that for lunch... puts us where?

What I am trying to figure out is if we will be near dining options at those two meal times, or if we'll be in the middle of a big 4 hour long stretch of nothingness. If thats the case, we can pack stuff for breakfast/lunch in case... we're trying to save $ and don't want to pack stuff that we won't use. We would all MUCH rather stop at Burger King instead of eating a sandwich. It'll be three 20 something yo's, btw.

Anyone familiar enough with the drive to mentally figure out where we'll be? It's hard to figure it all out!

THANKS!!!!!!!

3 hours past Baton Rouge will put you near Mobile, AL. Then you most likely would want to stop in Tallahassee, FL for an early lunch (~3 hrs+ 1hr Eastern time zone) or wait until you turn south on 75 ~1.5hr to Lake City another ~30 min to Gainsville or =~30 to Ocala. All of these have several good places to eat near interstate exits.

Hope this helps.

Aimeedyan .. when are you leaving? We are driving from Austin - leaving on June 5th. We are taking it slow and easy going down. There will be me, my daughter and mother so we can't really drive straight through. Our reservations aren't until June 8th. We are stopping In Slidell, LA the first night and then on to Ocala, FL the second night. The drive is pretty long and kinda boring in places! I would suggest taking snacks but also be sure to stop on the way. There are plenty of places to stop along the way. Have a good trip!

Hi,

Using Streets & Trips I guess you will
be somewhere around the La. /Miss.
state line around 8:00. If that is so, you
could stop at the exit for Gulfport Ms./
Hwy 49. I know it has alot of eating
possibilities for you. Good Luck

Shoot, I couldn't stand stopping that frequently if I were driving to WDW. We've done the entire trip between NE LA and WDW in one day. But stopping twice???? Not for me.

If you could drive to Mobile at least on the first day, you could do the rest of the trip easily on the second. More time for Disney.

It took us 18 hrs. to drive from Austin to Orlando in Dec. I think you could make it in two days. Ocala is only 1 1/2-2 hrs. from WDW. I don't think I could stop for the night that close! lol

There are plenty of places to stop to eat between Baton Rouge and Pensacola. Between Pensacola and Tallahasse it's a bit sparse. The same between Tallahasse and Lake City. After that again plenty of places.

Thanks for this post! We are planning to drive from Houston to Orlando in May. We think that we will leave around 5 p.m. and drive all night. Has anyone tried to drive all night? Are we crazy to try it?

We've driven from Shreveport leaving about midnight and arriving in the early afternoon. It's about a 14 hour trip from NW LA and should be about the same from Houston. We have left at 5AM and arrived in the early evening. It's just that loss of one hour along the way that adds time.

Thanks for the great responses!

We are leaving on May 14th, about 10pm that night and drive all night through... 18 hours divided by 3 adults isnt a big deal, and we refuse to stop.

My parents drove us MANY times to Florida from Dallas, and we always left that night after we fell asleep all the way through. Dad liked driving at night when all was calm in the car =)

I don't think you're crazy to drive all night... some people can't do it, I know my DH will be asleep while we do it, but some people can! We like driving at night =)

I'm actually looking forward to the trip! We plan on taking the laptop for movies, lots of snacks, and a cooler full of cokes and stopping just for two meals and potty breaks =) But we're in a hurry to get there and see our mom who lives there now =)

The only reason we are stopping twice is that we are 3 women traveling alone (I am doing all the driving by myself since my mom is elderly and my daughter is too young to drive) Driving all night is really not an option. Would not feel too safe driving in the middle of the night. We also have the option of taking our time driving down. I don't see the advantage to driving all through the night and then being so tired when you get there you have to rest a whole day before starting your vacation.

We are leaving from Ft Hood/Killeen on the 4th of June. We like to stop in Pensacola for b-fast.
