Anyone ever wear a pedometer in the parks?

Previous thread on hotel distances got me curious as to how far on average we walk during a typical day at the DLR? I know everyone is different, and some race from attraction to attraction, while others stroll leisurely, but if any of you has actually checked on your distance walked let us know. Not sure if we should feel good, or bad about this though ;)

I think getting a close hotel is more of a time consideration for us, because realistically a couple tenths of a mile is no big deal when we've probably walked miles in the park. Although at the end of a long day it sure seems long!

We were there last week. My phone logged 17,000-20,000 steps per day, and that was with staying at the Desert Inn. Just a side note, it was 103 degrees so we didn't feel like doing a lot of park hopping.

We averaged 20,000 @ day, using four day hoppers last month, and went to both parks each day. We stayed at La Quinta on Clementine, which was a 20 minute walk, but we usually took the ART shuttle to save our feet.

We have pocket pedometers we use every trip. On average, we walk about 5-7 miles a day, depending on what the crowd level is. It's amazing how much you actually walk when you are there! We usually stay on Katella and take the ART to the park.

I wear a Fitbit and average between 17,000-22,000 steps per day depending on how late the parks are open. It's fun to track steps and see who took the most!

I just picked up a Fitbit One last week for our DLR trip :) can't wait to really put it to the test in July ;)

We logged 6-8 miles per day over a week at DLR. We stayed at DLH. This was done via my phone's pedometer so have to add some for time when I didn't have it on me.

i wear a FitBit One and also log about 20,000 steps on an average day in WDW - it makes you realize WHY you're feet might be tired at the end of the day:lmao:

I know this is a Disney board, but we always do MUCH more walking than normal when we're vacationing, no matter where we are. I have a FitBit One, and struggle to do 10,000 steps on a normal day (even when I go for a walk in the morning). However, on our recent trip to SE Asia, we were averaging about 20,000, and on one day in Singapore, even got over 30,000!

I can't wait to see how it compares to a day at Disneyland!

I also have the fitbit one (and love it!) and with my WDW trip I was averaging 30,000 steps a day, but I was there from opening to closing. As a DLR local I am not there for nearly as long but I still average 10-15k steps for the 3-6 hours there.

For the 24 hour event I was there for two 6 hour chunks and almost hit the 30k mark for the 24 hour period (20k Friday, 10k Saturday)

I wear my Fitbit every day, including vacation. Last month at DLR I ranged from 24,000 steps on my "slow" day to a high of 31,000 steps.

We do a lot of walking, park hop, and back to hotle in the afternoon. We average 8-10 miles a day. We like to walk fast.

No clue. But on the subject of Fitbits....(I don't want to start a new topic just for this)....are they really worth the money? How does it figure your steps?

I had a cheapy pedometer that just counted a step with every "bounce" basically. So it wouldn't be accurate at Disneyland with all of the bouncing on rides.

I love my FitBit! Here's the features that I love the most that you don't get with a regular cheapie pedo.

* It syncs automatically to the FitBit website wirelessly, so you can easily keep track of your daily activity.
* It resets itself every night at midnight. I found with a normal pedo I used to forget to reset it all the time and it was pretty useless when that happened.
* It also records your sleep patterns (depending on which model you get). I don't sleep very well, so it's good for me to know when I'm improving and keep a log of what I've done differently etc.
* As well as steps, it records how high you've climbed each day (stairs or hills), which can be interesting.
* The website motivates me by using different colours depending on my activity level, and you can earn 'badges'.
* I wear mine hooked onto my bra, which means I can wear it with any outfit (used to have problems wearing a regular pedo with a dress), and it's so comfortable and discreet I forget it's there and there's no way for anyone else to know.

I'm not sure exactly how it works, but it seems to be pretty accurate. I had it on my Christmas wishlist last year, and it's been the best present!

I wore one years ago and it averaged about 1 mile per hour. Now I do think some of those extra steps are bumps on the rides since I didn't take off/turn off the pedometer at all.

Can you turn it off and then back on for rollercoasters or a bumpy car ride?
