We are tossing around the idea of going to DLP within the next year or so (depending on how the economy goes) and was wondering if there was anybody that has stayed at DLP? If so, which resort? Was it worth the points? I have read elsewhere that you are better off staying off-site? We would definately be interested in seeing other Parisian sites and not just DLP. CAn anyone give further details?? Thanks..

WE haven't done it yet, but they're making it very tempting this year; if you stay on points at DLP you get admission to the park included for everyone in your party, up to the number of people allowed in the room!

We went to DLP many years ago on points. In fact that wasn't too long after it had opened. It was still called Euro Disneyland.

We were supposed to stay at the Sequoia Lodge but it was closed (Off Season, and they wern't filling the hotels yet back then), so we wound up at Newport Bay if my memory is correct. We had free passes into the park also, but I'm not sure if that was something they did for everyone or not because that's back when we were also getting passes into the WDW parks.

I do remember the passes were for one less day than your stay, that is stay 4 nights, so get passes for 3 days. Of course that was way back and I don't know what it is today.

Just for your info, all hotels are walking distance to the park. You walk through an area similar to DD, but much smaller. Hotel Cheyenne and Santa Fe are the 'budget' hotels, and don't have swimming pools. Sequoia Lodge and Newport Bay are next higher up, then Hotel New York, and finally Disneyland Hotel. The park itself is similiar to MK and Disneyland.

A new 'studios' park is scheduled to open in April 2002 so you might plan your trip to include that also if that time is still included in the special you mentioned.

The thing that really sparked our interest was the passes were included with your stay. I thought the points were reasonable. We would probably stay at the Sequoia since DH like that "theme"!! Now we just have to wait for the right price in airfare!! I did not know that they were building a new park there. I do remember seeing a show on The Travel Channel about DLP. Everything looks very American there. Do you have a hard time communicating over there? DLP seems like it is all in English? Any other info would be appreciated. Thanks again...

I was there last December and took the train (RER) from Paris to DLP. The train station is the end of that line (make sure you get the correct train, some don't run all the way to the end of the line), and is maybe 100-200 yards from the entrance to DLP; the version of Doewntown Disney is to the right and the park to the left. It was convenient and easy and to e honest I did not feel more than a day was needed there, although I was definitely off peak in early December so crowds may make it difficult to see it all at other times of the year

Long Answer:
We were going to use points to stay at DLP in 1997, but our trip coincided with the start of high season (Easter). We didn't have enough points to book the two rooms that we had planned on. Thankfully, MS suggested that we contact American Express Travel. At that time they had a package deal that ended up costing us only $70 per night per room! We would have been foolish to use our points. Instead, we let some friends of our have 150 points at $5 per point (which they were glad to pay) and we just paid cash for our stay at DLP.

Short Answer: No

We're going this July to DLP. It cost us 365 pts for a week at the Disneyland Hotel and UMP are included. We're all looking foward to the visit.
