I'm desperate to get off dial-up!! I don't have a lot of options as I live in the booneys. No DSL, no Roadrunner.
So I'm researching wireless broadband and discover Sprint services my area. Woohoo. Go directly to Sprint's website and it says they are not currently installing new customers in the Houston area and to fill out a form if I want to be notified when they start back up.
So I Google and find InternetBroadband4Laptops.com (Google-sponsored site) and it looks like they have a good deal - free wireless card and $50 rebate. I go to order the wireless card and Sprint service and one of the required fields to fill out is social security number (for credit check). Whoa!
So I guess my questions are:
1. Has anyone used this website before?
2. Are they reputable?
3. Is it normal to give out your SSN for a credit check? (I guess it would be but I'm leary of giving it out even over a secured website connection.)
