Anyone Ever Use AirTran?

AirTran's not a bad airline, only complaint is is that there based in ATL. HATE that airport (Not as much as MSP :earboy2: ). AirTran was formed after ValueJet went out of business. They essentialy bought all of the old ValueJet planes, replaced the "Bad" parts, repainted the planes and opened AirTran.

I read on their website that they had the newest planes in the nation.
Boing 717's and 737's.

And the incident with Valuejet was not their fault, but the company that lied about the combustable contents of what they were loading into the cargo area of the jet.

Anyone know if they really do have the newest fleet in the nation???

We flew AirTran out of PIT for the first time last month, non stop to MCO. They were great. They did only serve drinks (but they gave us the full can of soda compared to USAir who only gave us a cupful last year), and pretzels. That's fine with me as I never cared for airline food anyway and will all the choices in the airports these days, I don't need a meal on the plane.

The boarding was extrememly efficient, the employees very friendly, and our flights landed 20 minutes AHEAD of schedule, BOTH ways! You can't beat that.

We paid $155 per person, round trip. USAir wanted $250.

WOW. You got a good rate! I hope I can get something that good. I'm just glad to finally be able to fly out close by at a reasonable price.

Just got back from Atlanta and used Air Tran. Had no problems either flight. We only got a cup of soda but thats ok. Flights left on time. The only problem at ATL is allowing enough time to get through security.

I just returned last night on Air Tran, left PIT last Wednesday morning. Both flights arrived early (~ 10 min). We didn't have a laptop to reserve seats 24 hours before the return, we just waited until we got to the airport. The only 2 seats together were the last row. We should have tried for separate seats. The last row is uncomfortable, no window, no recline, kind of stuffy. I've used them twice and recommend them. I have another trip booked for May.

By the way, they retired the ValuJet DC-9's. They are flying new 717's.

I love airtran. Phl-Mco, a great deal. Coming home our flight was delayed and would have caused us to miss our connection through Atlanta. They put us on the 7:40pm non stop flight to Philadelphia and two seats were in business/first class. The other two seats were seperate, but since my husband and daughter would be seperated many passangers offered to switch. They were terrific. Would fly them again in a heartbeat. Getting there we arrived ahead of schedule.

All of this is great to hear. I am about to book flights for next month, and they are the best rate I've found from Dallas to Orlando. Thanks for the posts!

Air Tran is the only airline we use! They are the only ones who offer NONSTOP between BWI (Baltimore) & Orlando. I would pay extra to fly airtran for that reason alone (shhhhh).
