Anyone ever upgrade Disney Travel Package Ticket to AP?

Hi Everyone. I currently have an AP but I am planning a trip with my best friend who does not. I am looking at booking through Disney Travel for part of our trip (through Costco) to get the Mickey's Toon Town Morning Madness and Alladin Priority Seating (as well as we will use the Premium Character Dining).

The tickets you get with the package are valid through the end of the year so I was thinking of using it to upgrade to a new AP after mine expires but it doesn't make much financial sense to do it if the ticket will only be worth $100 or so.

So therefore... has anyone upgraded the ticket they received from an official Disney Travel package to an AP? What kind of value did you get for the ticket (and how many days was your package ticket)?

Thanks!

The Disney Travel Packages pretty much have the same prices for tickets, motels....they just add extra for the package perks. When you book your package, just ask them what the PH is worth, as you may want to use it to upgrade to an AP.

Just remember, that if you don't upgrade it on the first day of use, they will subtract each day's usage off it when you upgrade. (example: if you get a 5 day ticket & use the ticket for 2 days, you will only get credit for the 3 unused days).

I did this in 09!!

Is the subtracting days after use only when you buy them from a ticket package? I have heard that as long as you upgrade before all the days are gone you get the full credit for the ticket?

I tried asking before I purchase a package from Disney travel how much the park hopper would be worth but they said they couldn't tell me.

Well you've got me stumped!! I know I used my PH just to get in & go right to the AP center to get my AP. This is a total guess.......I had a 5 day PH & got a $169 to use towards my AP (like I said, that's just a guess on the amt.........) That would be cool if you could get full credit for the PH if you used days on it........got me curious now too!!!

Last July we did upgrade our package tickets for AP's. I waited to upgrade until after a Saturday blockout and the value of the ticket was subtracted from the cost of the deluxe AP. I don't recall the value of the 5-day ticket but I know the entire amount of the ticket was taken from the total cost of the AP. For instance: if the cost of the park hopper was $200 and the cost of the AP was $329, then the charge to upgrade my ticket to an AP was $129. Hope that helps!

I thinking about buying the costco 4 day park hopper and then upgrading to AP. They would apply the total amount you paid for the tickets and put it towards an AP. The AP would be good for a year from the first day I used the four day park hopper.

I ended buying a discounted ticket for a day and they applied the amount I paid for the discount ticket towards an AP.

It's definitely the full amount that's being taken off.

Okay.. so has anyone done it at remembers how much credit they were given? My question is is the whatever the current online price of the ticket it or the gate price? Or less than either cause it was in a package?

We did it. It's the online ticket price.

But you have to do it the first day of the PH so you get the full value? DH and I are going in May and I planned on upgrading our 4 day PH to APs. We'll be there Wed-Sat and Sat is a blocked day, so I was going to upgrade mine on Wed so we'd have full advantage of the discounts and then just pay for an AP 1 day ticket for me on Saturday (I heard they're $50, is that right?) and then was going to upgrade DH on Saturday. If we wont get the full value for his ticket though, it would make more sense to upgrade both on Wed and pay for two 1 day tickets on Sunday. Thoughts?

You can upgrade any time while the ticket is valid and the AP cost will be the difference between the full cost of the parkhopper and the cost of the new AP.

So I'll still get the roughly $200 of DH's ticket applied to his AP even though he'll have used 3 days on the ticket already?
