Congratulations!

The Swan is a lovely resort in a fantastic location. The rooms have just been renovated (haven't stayed there since this happened so haven't seen them myself, but there's many positive reports on this board). We've had excellent service from the staff and enjoyed our stay very much.

If you haven't joined Starwoods Preferred Guest Club, it's a good program. www.spg.com
Costs nothing and every $$$ you spend accumulates points. Points can be used for room upgrades and a variety of other things. Both the Swan and the Dolphin seem to give a lot of complimentary upgrades, and it seems to help if you're a SPG member. If you're a AAA member, AARP, (and I think American Express), ask them to note that, and it's 'supposed' to get you late check out.

Both the Swan and Dolphin do not have balconies on many of the rooms --- if this is important to you, request it.

Hope you have a magical trip!

we stayed at the swan in Sept. for our anniversary. It is SUPER!!!! It is a beautiful resort and you will love the pool (and the beds!!!) Be sure to mention that you are celebrating your new marriage. We mentioned our anniversary to the front desk guy and on our 2nd nite we had a beautiful plate of chocolate covered fruit , a bottle of wine and a pretty card waiting for us in the room when we came in from the parks! We ate at Gullivers in the swan and at tubbies in the dolphin. they are both really good. also, be sure to get a sundae or malt at the dolphin fountain! Can you tell that we like to eat? LOL!!!! Since we were on our 1st "no kids" trip ever....we pigged out at alot of places that with 4 kids are too expensive! And we ate ALOT of midnight snacks!!! The location of the swan can;t be beat. I liked the boat ride to Disney studios and Epcot....but be sure to walk thru the boardwalk at least once to get to Epcot...it's fun too. And walking to epcot is actually faster than the boat!! Have a great trip, abd congrats on your upcoming marriage! I wish you all the happiness we have had for 20 years!:chat:

You will love the Swan. You should go to the Swan/Dolphin thread to find out anything you want to know. Many experts there. Here's an idea of what our last room looked like, in July:
This is a regular room on the 11th floor, club level:

You will love it!!!!!

Walk to the Boardwalk one evening (it's SOOOO close), and ride around on one of the bicycles. Be a good boy and avoid the ESPN Zone unless she really wants to go there - try for a romantic meal. (Course, I would be very content with a plate of nachos from ESPN!!) Walk along the water path to have a romantic meal at the Brown Derby at MGM one evening, or one of the nice restaurants in Epcot.

PS, Teddyboy - make sure you are paying the best rate!!!! If you are eligible for any discounted rates, such as Teacher, Gov't, AP, Entertainment, etc, make sure you are using the discount!!! Your wife will be soooo proud of you if you save a ton on the room and buy her something special with it..........:p :p :p

We also stayed in September to celebrate our anniversary. Had an excellent time and also received bottle of champagne (full not split) and a dozen chocolate covered strawberies!
Rooms are very nice, heavenly beds are comfortable and service was excellent. Location has to be the strongest point.
We stayed because AP rates were not available at other Disney resorts and told Swan that when I made ressies along with our anniversarry information. Swan was way pleased that we chose them since we have made a career of Disney resorts.
I think you will like it!

I just returned from 3 days at the Swan. We had a nice room on the 10th floor. For the rate I ended up paying we made out big time.

However, I noted the original poster saying that this was for a honeymoon trip.

I think Disney is a great place to go for one's honeymoon if you are really into Disney, but one of the last places I would stay is at the Dolphin or Swan if I were on my honeymoon.

It just didn't have that Disney Magic that we felt at the Disney Resorts. Also, it seems as though the Dolphin and Swan seemed to be catering more to conventions/meetings type clientelle than honeymooners or vacation tourists.

Give you a perfect example. On Sunday night we walked back from Epcot World Showcase to our hotel at Swan. We were all excited after having a good day in Epcot. On the way back we walked through Beach Club and Boardwalk and still felt that magic. Everyone was having a great time. People in the pools. Boardwalk bustling. Beaches and Cream was packed. We checked out the lobbies and things were bustling with everyone having a good time. Then we got over the Dolphin/Swan. Its like the magic just died. Everyone there had name tags on for their respective meetings that they were attending. Everyone was wearing business casual attire or suits for their meetings/convention. It just took the wind out of my sails. I felt like I was back at work. It stunk to be honest.

Now don't get me wrong here. For the money I paid and the location this was a steal for myself, wife and two kids. However, for a honeymoon I think you can do much better than Dolphin and Swan. If you like Epcot Resorts go Boardwalk or Beach Club. MK Resorts Poly or WL have a much better romantic feel for a honeymoon than the Dolphin or Swan.

Regards!

We LOVE WDW Swan and Dolphin. We have stayed at most of the WDW deluxes and our favorite is the Dolphin (sister resort to the Swan). The location can't be beat with access to the Boardwalk, Epcot and MGM. The gotto pool is second to none and rivals SAB. The views from the upper floors at the S/D are fantastic. Where else can you see Illuminations from your window/balcony? It sounds like you have a corner king reserved and it does not get any better than that! Be sure to request a balcony and tell them it is your honeymoon. Congrats!

Location is great! Walking to MGM & EPCOT is really convenient & the bus service was fine on our last trip. Plus, the Grotto pool is considered to be one of WDW's best. Enjoy!

You will love it!

I just booked the Swan again, we stayed there last March in a
newly renovated room. It was great! I am staying there again
doing a land and sea vacation and my choice of any delux hotel.
(except the GF) we picked the swan. We have also stayed at the Poly and AKL. The beds at the swan and the rooms are the best!!!

And after all it is your honneymoon, beds are very important!

Loved reading all your reviews on the Swan! I'll be staying there Dec 4-8 for the very first time!

I have heard that it doesn't quite have that same Disney Magic, but it had the best price and the location can't be beat!

I have to strongly disagree with disneybud. If I was on my honeymoon, It isn't the "Disney Magic" I want to be thinking of when I am in my room. At the swan, you are right in the middle of everything and the Parks are only a short walk or ride away. However, I doubt Mickey and Minnie are what you want to be thinking of when you are alone together at the hotel. You will love the Swan. Good luck on your trip and your upcoming marriage. ;)

RescueRanger.. I'll say that the beds were great and that would be great for the honeymoon part. I guess I am assuming that if someone was going to Disney for their honeymoon that they would be into the "Disney Magic" thing and thus would want to be immersed in it. I base what I am saying based on my own honeymoon which I spent in Hawaii. I can tell you that I would be disappointed if everywhere I looked it was business meetings and people their for conventions which it seemed is exactly what SWAN caters to.. Its not your typical honeymoon hotel. In my 3 days there I was not struck by the number of honeymoon couples I saw around the hotel. I was definitely struck by the number of people with name tags. Maybe the honeymooners were up in the beds??

When I stayed at the Dolphin, I didn't notice anyone with a nametag. The Dolphin is a beautiful resort. You're going to be on your honeymoon for heaven's sake, I don't think you'll be paying that much attention to others around you! ;)

I have stayed in several hotels at Disney, including the Swan. When we stayed at the Yacht Club, there was a convention going on there and I saw many people in name tags in the hallways. The CR and CSR are also convention hotels as are the S/D. Just because you see people with name tags does not mean you can't enjoy your honeymoon/vacation. It is how you spend your time and who you are with. Besides, conventioneers can be a fun group sometimes! You could even call Disers and RADAPers conventioneers when they have meets and wear name tags. Just my $.02....everyone go and enjoy, no matter where you stay!

To all my Sorority Sisters...:wave2: ~

I've been waiting for the post contesting the use of the initial reference "Disney Swan" (which IS what this Resort is aptly titled "THE WALT DISNEY WORLD SWAN" :duck: ).

Go...and enjoy your Honeymoon! The Swan has newly renovated rooms with "HEAVENLY BEDS", and offers a myriad of comforts from room service to Late check-out. You will have a MAGICAL experience. Be sure to inform the front desk associate of your occasion (HONEYMOON!!!), and everything should be dreamy.

I share in your excitement, and look forward to your post-honeymoon post!

You will love the Swan for your honeymoon. Make sure you get a King size bed;) Take a walk through Epcot's World Showcase in the evening. I'd also try to get a PS for one of the nice restaurants where you can watch Illuminations. I know there's a great French restaurant in WS, but not sure if you'll have a view of Illuminations.
