We are looking into booking The Cove at Ormond Beach for 4 nights before our cruise on the Dream in May. I am looking for any opinions on this place. Thanks!

I cant tell you about the resort specifically,I'm pretty sure it used to be called something else... but I live in Ormond Beach and it is a very lovely place, quieter than daytona and the beaches and river are quite beautiful. That resort is "beachside" obviously and Ormond mainland is over the bridge across the halifax river. I used to deliver mail down there and that address is conveniently located right on the beach on a1a near granada(sr 40) which is where the Ormond bridge is. On the other side of Granada beachside it is residential with lots of oceanfront mansions, quite nice. If you book it feel free to message me for dining suggestions in the area.

Yep, I think so too - maybe the sign used to say Island One? On the other side of the street Julians and Stonewood Tavern are north of it, IHOP is south if that helps you place it (145 S Atlantic). :goodvibes

It gets pretty good reviews so dawsons I'd say you are safe :thumbsup2

As far as dining, of course there's lots to eat up that way, but we like to go to the Charlie Horse for fried clam baskets or snow crab dinners - it's kind of a "dive" but we like the food

And sometimes on a beautiful day we'll drive on up the coast to High Tides at Snack Jack (directly on the ocean):

Have great cruise too!
:yay:

charlie horse does this all you can eat crab legs that is really awesome...its messy and noisy but a favorite place of many...if you do go I would advise getting there early or else you will have a long wait. From that resort you would head left on a1a and it will be on the right hand side. There is also an olive garden and bonefish grill in that area. There is a small shopping plaza on the corner of a1a and sr40 which has peach valley cafe, which I highly recommend for a fabulous breakfast, and noahs market which is this huge eclectic deli/restaurant with tons of cool and delicious stuff.
If you are into Italian, the Ormond Locals dine at Marios, you would go over the granada bridge and make a left on US1...look for it once you pass hand avenue, it will be on the left hand side...HIGHLY RECOMMEND:)

We have stayed there the last two years. The first year was wonderful! The room was clean and well kept. The staff was wonderful.

Last year, the staff was terrible! They closed the pool early because the "attendant" wanted to go home. He yelled at all the kids to leave the area "NOW". Our room was not clean. Several in our group has paid in full reservations. When they arrived they were told the reservations did not show in the system, but the staff "found" rooms. They had to pay for the room again and were told to "fight with reservations" to get the money back. Shortly after we returned from our stay we started getting bankruptcy paper work from the company that runs the Cove. Stacks and stacks of mail almost daily.

We've stayed there several times and always had a blast. Very family friendly, clean, fun. We have seen the pool close unexpectedly (1 hr, maybe) but with lots of kids, accidents are going to happen. I'd rather have an extra dose of chlorine.

It is a timeshare so beware of the "professionals" walking around and leaving messages on your voicemail (actually, I wouldn't answer the room phone at all). They want to rope you into a timeshare seminar. I believe the resort has gone to wristbands and the different colors identify the owners vs. the visitors.

We would definitely stay at this resort again!

its kinda old school but has a really loyal following of return visitors every year
http://www.coralsandsinn.com/index.cfm They have adorable little cottages right on the beach.

I agree with this! We just went to Snack Jacks on Saturday to eat lunch and drove up past the Coral Sands complex and everything looked soooo clean. The hotel looked nice, the cottages are darling and I didn't remember that there was a nice camping area right there too (I did remember the RVs always parked up at Gamble Rogers State Park and on up at Beverly Beach, but forgot all about Coral Sands :goodvibes)

I'll have to remember this place when friends ask for recommendations up that way :cutie:
