Wondering if it is a pain in the neck to switch? We are staying in a studio at BLT for the first three nights, then switching to a one bedroom at BLT for the rest of the week. We are doing this to save points, and to also check out both 'rooms'. This is our first trip 'home' as DVC members! Do any of you do this?

In the four DVC trips we have taken, we have done this twice. Our first trip was to SSR. We stayed in a studio for 4 nights, then switched to a 1 BR for the last 2 nights (both rooms at SSR, just different sections). Then last October, we stayed in a concierge studio for one night so we could book the Sunrise Safari, then we switched to a 2 BR for the next 6 nights (moved from Jambo House to Kidani). We are planning on doing it this October, too. We will be staying in a studio at HHI for the first night, then moving to a 2 BR for the next 4 nights.

I love being able to stay longer by conserving the points, but I still get to spend time in nicer accomodations. I will say though that I enjoyed staying only 1 night in the studio. The longer I stay, the more settled I feel, and then I don't want to move. Moving within the same resort is pretty easy. I don't want to ever move between resorts.

We have done it, but between resorts. We didn't find it that big of a deal. I simply packed my suitcases in such as way that we had one that had everything for the first 3 nights in the studio. And then I packed other things for the nights in the 1 bedroom.

I simply unpack the one suitcase and then as things become dirty, put them back in. I even buy extra things like toothbrushes, shampoo, etc. for each part. This way, when we change, I don't even have to pack them and move them.

So far, all of our summer DVC trips have been done this way and we are doing it again this summer, although we are going from BWV to BLT in 2 bedrooms.

Good luck!!!

Really the same as switching resorts. We are doing this in October, 5 nights studio, 4 nights 1 BR. We will have no "home" for the middle of the day, have to pack and check our bags etc. But on day 5-6, we can do laundry and sprawl out!

We did this last Christmas at AKV, but a lot more. You can get Bell Services to either take your luggage to be picked up later or deliver to your new room. The only problem is that on the day of transition you don't have access to your room between the time that you check-out and the check-in time in the afternoon. There can also be some confusion on your admission tickets on your room key. They may have fixed this, but in December, when they were implementing a new reservation system, we kept our admission tickets separate from our room keys due to confusion at the front desk.

In general, I don't think there is a problem with doing this. An advantage is seeing more than one room. If it were me I'd try to have the studio first and the one bedroom last.

Have fun!

It's honestly not a big deal, I just don't like doing it. I prefer to get settled, unpack, and make the room my "home" for the next 7 - 10 days. It's a little bigger deal with groceries, but then again, the resorts can keep things cool for you without consideration.

If I had it to do over again, I would make the day we changed resorts/rooms a "park day." When we moved, we had to be out by 11:00, and then our room at SSR wasn't available until 4:00. So I felt we kind of blew the day just switching resorts. Our fault, though...you live and learn. :goodvibes
