Anyone ever rented from Priceline, other car rental info

I'm looking to rent a car for a week from 10/29-11/5 from the airport. I was thinking an SUV would probably be best for 5 passengers, plus luggage. I have priced all the main companies and they are pretty pricey. 230.35 to 539.99 for a week. I've found a couple of discount codes, but it doesn't drop it too much. Has anyone ever used Priceline for their car rental and how was it? I've used them for hotels, but nothing else. Any good info on renting a car would be great! Thanks!

We did priceline we got a minivan for the 5 of us. we got it for 190. for 1 week. We are picking it up Saturday am and then off to disney The only bad theing is its from National so we have to go to Hartsfield to pick it up. Its not far I just hate going to the airport.

I have used them. I bid ruthlessly low.... sometimes I get lucky sometimes I don't (I just ignore the DIRE warnings from priceline about how I won't get a car at that price... LOL!)

You are guranteed an airport location, but they do use Hertz which requires a shuttle ride. I use Hertz for business all the time and find the shuttle is great. I never seem to wait.

Now that you know what rates you can get on line through direct bookings for your date you can make a good Priceline bid....we have used them for rental cars many times and never had a problem....like Carol said....sometimes they are cheaper and sometimes not....good news is it can't hurt to throw in a low bid and see what happens!!

Use them often for cars/vans and always did pretty well. Never had any problem at all with it. Rooms we only do when DH is traveling alone because of the lack of guarantee for requested bedding for the family.
