I just uprgraded my ressie at CSR to a pool/water view because hubby hates to take our chances with getting an upgrade at check in. He refuses to face the parking lot. I am just want to make sure that if we pay for it we'll get it.

If you pay for it, you'll get it though water view could be of pool or lake. If they were unable to give it to you for some reason, they would refund your money.

you should be okay with CSR.

with POR - don't do it.

they told me that the silly fountains were a water view..... :confused3

I am NEVER spending the extra money again at POR.

I know that POFQ gives you the view you pay for, too.

According to the Unofficial Guide a water view may be a view of a canal, pool, or lake, but may also be a view of a fountain or even a birdbath. They also say a water view may be a view where you have to go out onto a balcony, lean way to the left, and then catch a glimpse of something with water in it in the distance. What they say is 'by God, if you are paying for a water view, you will see some water somewhere, even if it's a birdbath'. One tip they have is to request pool view instead of water view.

I stayed at CSR once with a water view and we faced a quiet pool. I don't think it's worth paying extra for. It's not like you have a balcony and can sit out enjoying your view.

I agree w/Debbie - I don't pay for a "view" since I don't sit in my room w/the curtains open looking outside. I prefer to BE outside spending the extra "view $$$" on something else.'

Have a great time at CSR!!!

no but recently there was a thread about someone who paid for a view at csr and they were not given it so downgraded they were nto refunded
im not sure but i dont think they said anything when they were there
i cant remember all of it

I had requested a water view at CSR last year for our honeymoon. When we checked in the CM asked if we wanted a king size bed. I thought she was being nice, so I said sure.

When we got to the room, it was facing some trees destroyed by a hurricane and part of the parking lot. No water in site, although the room smelled a little like mildew. The room was also very dark and the bed was so low it seemed like it was on the floor.

We went back to the front desk and explained the problem, and were told there were no water views with king beds available. We chose the water view, and ended up with a MUCH better room. It was a corner room with a beautiful view of the lake, and a hammock on the beach. It was perfect! (And the beds were a normal height!)

If they were downgraded and didnt say anything, it could have been the cm's mistake. They should have addressed it there b/c if you pay extra for a view, you usually get it, and if not, which is rare, they would have to refund that portion of your money.

BTW, We never pay extra for a view at moderates b/c you share a walkway with everyone else, its not like a balcony where you can take in the view in privacy. Besides, we have been upgraded for free to water view on our last 2 trips. CSR has beautiful fountains so even if you look at those, they are very nice.

I know this was a long time ago, but when I stayed at Riverside - back then it was Dixie Landings, we did pay for a waterview. When I got there, we were on the 2nd floor and there was this huge tree that you could see from our window. I was thinking, where is the water? So, you walk outside and duck down and look through the railings, and, there it is! you can see some water from the pool! haha I asked about it and was told, well, if the tree weren't there, you'd be able to see the water, so we count it as the same thing. I think if I hadn't been 21 at the time, I might have spoken up and asked for a refund, but at the time we just shrugged it off. So, needless to say, this time around when DH who had never been was interested in paying for a waterview, I told him, 'NO!' :rotfl:

I paid for a water view at CR...I just do not want to look onto some pavement or cars ICK...plus it wasn't really that much more per night but if I don't like it I will request a different room or refund.

I must just be very luicky, Every time I have requested a waterview I have gotten a nice room. I dont usually as I dont think it is worth it in most cases, but at POR, I do if my Mom is coming with me as it is usually a shorter walk to the Main Building area if we request a water( River) view to be on the inside of the resort. I have done a waterview also at CSR which was nice again as you are on the "inside" of the resort. Belle

We paid for a waterview this past Dec at POR and I swore I would never pay for a view again. Only way to see the canal was to walk outside and look around the tree.

I didnt complain but I did make a mental note not to do it again :)
