... something to be delivered to their room for check-in? I was thinking that the champagne and strawberries might be a nice suprise for DH. Has anyone done this and would you recommend it?

thanks,

katie :)

It's expensive, but concierge can arrange it for you. :wave2: :D

I wouldn't arrange it for check in. Until you are actually checked in your blocked room can be assigned to someone else. They may be enjoying your surprise.

I agree with safteymom! Wait until you have your room and then make the call.

I actually did this for friends staying at the Beach Club this May. Not only did they change rooms when they checked in (the original room did not have a full balcony), but their chocolate covered strawberries were in their room when the new room became available that afternoon. Very cool and worth every penny! :teeth:

Can you do this at any resort or just the deluxes with concierge? And roughly what is the price for this little luxury ?

I did a few special things for my wife on our 10th anniversary....We stayed at the Beach Club Villa's.....I talked to Diane Hill who was a manager of Private Dining......that is the group that basically handles all the room services stuff as well as other special events at BC/YC......They can pretty much do anything you ask with a little notice......we had dinner for two in the Gazebo at YC (we were married there 10 yrs ago), rose petals in the room, special dessert (Cinderella Slipper), wine in the room......ask nicely and I am sure they would love to do it!

This sounds like a great idea. Think they can make it happen at Pop Century? We will be there over Valentine's day. Thinking this would be good for the evening, if we can't get our plans for a night out (without the kids) to work out.

Don't forget that Disney Florist can arrange delivery of champagne and chocolates, as well as gift baskets. They will wait until you check in to deliver gifts or gourmet food. They usually deliver it while you are out. However there is a policy that they are strict about: if you are sending any alcohol they must verify that the guests are 21 or over before delivering any gift that contains alcohol. They will call to verify or will have you come down to show ID. Now I bet concierge can bypass this policy somehow, but otherwise, you will have to prove you are legal. (had to pick up our gift basket because it had champagne in it):D

The cost for Champagne and Chocolate Dipped Strawberries from the BC was 49.99. There are a lot of options for various prices at www.disneyflorist.com and they'll deliver to any of the resorts. They do validate the room number when they deliver to make sure they don't give the wrong guest a surprise gift.

We had a basket from Disney Florist delivered to us at the BWI with champagne in it and did not have to show ID... but we were staying concierge.

This sounds reasonable, but makes me think of all the years we checked in and received the key to the mini-bar at the GF without being ID'd (including years when I was underage).

We didn't do it for check-in, but we did do it mid-stay. We were at Crystal Palace with our friends, who were celebrating their 10th anniversary that day. I pulled aside a CM in the restaurant and asked if she could help me. She was so excited to help plan a surprise for them. We gave her the last name of our friends & hotel (Contemporary) and then our room info for the charge. She arranged champagne and strawberries to be delivered to their room that evening. It was great and they were so surprised. They loved it. I think it cost us around $50. ::yes::
