At the same resort? Basically, due to availability, we would need to do 2 nights in a 1 bedroom at okw and then move to a 2 bedroom at okw for another 2 nights. I am thinking that since it is at the same resort, the move would be pretty painless, although I'm sure any move is always a little annoying. Anyone ever done a similar move?

Our family has done moves to other resorts and we're doing one at Christmas and I'm dreading packing everything up. We're going to have a kitchen and will have to pack food up too even if we try to plan carefully and not have too much food left by that time. We will have a car and at OKW the car can be pretty close for loading it but we are planning on it being a no park day. I' m thinking that you have additional people coming in so you need the 2 bedroom - why not get them a studio of their own? Disney would try to put them close by!

At OKW, for DD's graduation party of 12 people from a GV to a studio when everyone left and DW & I stayed for additional days.
We have done the AKL-CL to AKL studio move before and will be doing so again in Feb.
I find that if you go down, check-in early, and let them know that you are currently staying there; if any rooms are open from the previous day, the front desk CM will assign the room to you and you can move without involving the storage of luggage.
If the room is not ready bell services will store your luggage for the day until your assigned room is ready.
Also, have a notice placed on both reservations of the other reservation number so that that the room assignement CMs know that you are the person traveling in both reservations and hopefully place you in a room near your 1st reservation.

Have MS note the second reservation as a continuing reservation. With any luck you might be able to get into the second room early.

2 bedroom dedicated or lock-off? If a lock-off, you may get lucky and be able to just stay in the one bedroom portion without physically moving...but you'd need to check-in and make sure your MagicBands are set for the new reservation.

I did it in April. Moved from a studio to a 1 bedroom in the same resort. Was smooth but I think it was off season which might have helped? Anyway it makes it easier to pack 2 suitcases -1 for your first 2 days and 1 for the next 2 in the 2 bedroom. This way it doesn't feel like your packing and unpacking that much. I did this and the suitcase we used after the "move" remained untouched in the first part of the stay.

I've done this type of thing many times. Moved from a 1 BR to a studio when DH had to leave, but I stayed for several more nights. I've always had to check back in-in the morning, I pack my suitcase and drop it off with bell services, then check back to my new villa when I get back. And several times, due to availability, I've moved among view types (say, preferred view to BW view at BWV, for example). That move was great! I went down to check at 9:30am, found out that the new villa was steps away from the former one, so I just moved my stuff the few steps-never had to pack for that one!

One time we had 3 different rooms in 3 days. Had AKV club level booked for 4 nights. Decided to go a day early, got an AKV studio. When we moved to club, all they had was pool view. We really wanted the savannah view, it was a milestone birthday trip. So the next morning my friend asked the concierge if a savannah view was open, there was one but it was handicapped. We took it, so 3rd room in 3 days. If I remember correctly, the third room was available immediately so we walked right over.

Just curious as to whether or not you had to pay for those moves. We were given a HA room (without being told) and within 5 minutes of getting to the room we called the front desk and were told that since we'd been in the room, we'd now have to pay $25 to move. Since then, I always go with room #s of HA rooms written down so that I know right at the front desk. Why don't I ask the front desk CMs, you might say-because I had one lie to me and tell me a room wasn't HA when it was. Sorry, rant over, now return to topic of moving room types within the same resort.

Some resorts seem to charge the move fee more than others. The fee by the way is normally the full cleaning fee for that size of room.

The first move from a regular studio to club was separate reservations, so no charge. They didn't charge us to move from the different club rooms but club has daily housekeeping included, so I don't know how they could have charged us for cleaning.

We've done it many times, primarily to save points on the weekend. We are arriving late-ish this coming Saturday, therefore I booked a studio for one night. We move to a one-bedroom unit on Sunday and will have our Garden Grocer delivery that day. We generally pack the things we will need for the first night/change of clothes in our carry-on so we don't have to re-pack all over again. It works well. Our first full day is generally low-key anyway......pool/shopping, so we can gear up for upcoming week. Travel is exhausting and I welcome the down-time. :goodvibes

We've done this twice at AKL. 1-bedroom to Club Level on trip (this was really not an issue...just the one night so not much was unpacked. The second time was from from a 2-bedroom to a 1-bedroom. It was a bit of a pain to have to pack up and re-check in, but it worked out fine. I believe we didn't bother planning on going to a park that day. Guest Services has always been helpful and the hassle has been kept to a minimum.

With effort and planning it's usually workable and more than just luck. But as Chuck points out, it has to be a 2 BR L/O and the same booking category.
