Anyone ever have this happen?

Tuesday morning, around 4 am, happen to see a 25 SSR contract posted with my Apr UY. I email Sharon and say I will buy at asking @70 and pay MF closing and admin fee. At 9 am I call to follow up, and confirm the contract was mine. This was a full offer at what the seller was asking.

This afternoon, she tells me the contract was for OKW and do I still want it? Of course I don't.

I am presuming I don't have any recourse here? I understand that mistakes do happen, Sharon said the seller didn't have a copy of their deed. I guess my opinion is if that's the case, the contract should have never been listed in the first place??

I don't think you're going to get many takers on the "anyone ever have this happen?" question as this sounds like a bizarre situation. It sounds like they made a mistake, which stinks for you but it does happen. I don't really see what recourse you have, it's not like they can create a replacement contract. Perhaps you can ask her to keep an eye out for a small APR UY SSR contract if one comes up.

Sorry you were disappointed.

Things are pretty frantic in the resale market at the moment and fidelity are understaffed. Mistakes are going to happen. Hope you have better luck next time.

I am sure the buyer can back out as she made offer on SSR not OKW. The seller made mistake as far As I can see. Any how Just my 2 cents

I don't understand what type of recourse you're looking for. It was a mistake on the Web site, you hadn't signed any contracts yet, so I'm not sure what you think you can "get" from Fidelity.

You did not have a contract, you need both a signed contract and money changing hands to proceed. I guess it could happen but it sounds strange that the owner would not know. Hopefully they didn't get a better offer and give you that story just to placate you.

Typically contracts don't get listed until the broker checks the membership contract details with DVC, so most likely this is Fidelity entering the wrong information on their web site. Unfortunately there isn't much that can be done here other than forget about it and move on. Let the broker know what you are looking for and maybe they'll give you a call right away when something else comes in.

The key requirement in buying resale is to have lots of patience and time. Better luck next time.

May I ask you why you are looking for a SSR contract only? Do you need the 11 month window at SSR? If you buy a contract with the same UY and title the same, they'll be shown in the same membership and you'll be able to combine the points at 7 months without any problem. SSR is almost always available at 7 months, isn't it?

Was the contract for OKW an extended one? A shorter duration of course can make a difference. Maybe you can counter offer a lower price per point since it's not your resort. 25 points contracts are not that easy to be found.
