Anyone ever have their kitchen cabinets refaced?

I was wondering how much the cost for something like that would be vs replacing the cabinets themselves? The cabinets we have are nice, but I was thinking about updating the look in there. We have a u-shaped kitchen with 14 upper double cabinets, 2 corner cabinets, a full length pantry cabinet and then 3 double lower cabinets, a set of 5 drawers, drawers above the lower cab's and 2 corner cabinets.

A few years back, we had some cabinet doors made for about $24 each. They were made of poplar.

I actually did it myself.. it was easy & we saved a ton by just buying the supplies... If I remember correctly it cost me about $600.. If you're interested I'll dig up the website I ordered from....

solid oak fronts are running about 56$$ a piece right now here...

How much of a do it yourself project was that? Did you have to assemble the doors yourself, or just finish them and hang them? I would be interested in that. I am fairly handy, but I don't have a lot of experience with power tools.
