Anyone ever gotten Cafe Orleans fries "to go"?

My DIS buddies have alerted me to a few options that have led me to (finally!) make a Blue Bayou reservation after years of drooling at the menu and waxing poetic about the ambience from POTC. Because of this, DH will be able to get his Monte Cristo fix and I'm going to cancel our Cafe Orleans reservation as this was one of the major reasons we headed there every year.

:disrocks:

Buuuuut.... I love those fries, but don't really feel like dedicating a whole sit down meal to them. Has anyone ever gotten them "to go"?

I haven't had them "to go", but we did go for dinner last year and all I ordered was fries and gumbo. It was a nice combo!

The TS locations in DLR really aren't set-up to handle "to go" orders in the traditional sense. You could still make an ADR and then only order the fries once seated.

Would an order of just fries and beignets be frowned upon? :)

This is pretty much the only thing I get at Cafe Orleans (I don't eat anything else they serve besides the pomme frites and the beignets) so you'll be fine ;).

You can order as much or as little as you want from a menu. There's no minimum order. And truthfully, Cafe Orleans is a better place to go even if you just want beignets. I think the texture is better getting them at table service plus I get the delicious dipping sauces.

My wife and I also usually just order the pomme frites, a bowl of gumbo, and beignets all to share. Don't hesitate about making an ADR just to enjoy a lite lunch or snack. We've never had any issues.

Not frowned upon at all! It's a table service restaurant, but it's very casual. Not that I care! I go to Le Cellier in Epcot and just order soup and poutine!

As others have said, you'll be fine just ordering the fries and beignets, just make sure you make an ADR if you know you want to do this. All of the TS locations seem to have been increasing in popularity and it's pretty common for walk-ups to be turned away or told the stand-by wait is long (e.g., 1 hour). It's worth noting that sometimes venues will turn away walk-ups even when the reservation system is showing availability for that day.

If you want something to go, you have to go in, sit down order the food and then ask for a to go box.

I have no issues with going to a restaurant and ordering what I want. Unless the place as a minimum or each person much order an entree, why not?

so can a family of 4 (2 adults 2 kids) just order 1 plate of pomme frites to share? or must we each order at least one thing?

As long as you don't sit there for 2hrs they won't care. Order what you want! ADR for that place are recommended. People flock there for the Monte Cristo. I know I do.
