I saw a place called Pink's (In Hollywood) on the Food Network and it seems like people come for miles to get a Chili Dog at Pink's. Was it all TV hype or has anyone really ate there and can give a review?

We were thinking it may be fun to take a drive one day during our trip in November and pick up a chili dog.

Anyone have any experience at Pink's?

I have heard it is good, but has a very, very long line most of the time. I am veggie so I am no use to you there. But the cool thing is Pinkberry is almost right next door and dang that stuff is pretty good.

WE looked into for this trip too. I believe the average wait is 90 minutes, not worth it for me!

When I lived in LA my boss loved Pinks. He'd take our unit there for lunch about once a month. I guess I'm a bit of a hot dog snob :) I usually don't eat anything other than Hebrew National so I never really cared for them. They have a huge following and they do have tons of combinations with lots of fun names so if you really like hot dogs and you're in the area it might be fun. We never went right at noon so we never had a terrible wait, but it was usually 20 minutes or so. I think they open pretty early (10 or so) and you might want to try it early rather than later if you're rushed for time. Just my humble opinion....

yeah yeah I saw the show too...so what did we do??? we went....2 1/2 hours in line....didnt see any clebrities...I had a spicy polish dog with chili, onions and mustard...onion rings because a girl we were in line with told me i HAD to try them:rotfl: my dd had a burger:rolleyes: they had a martha stewart dog, ozzy ozbourne dog, rosie dog and a today show one (2 hotdogs in one bun???) they didnt sound appealing much to me...bottom line was the food was decent..chili good...but there is no way in hades I will ever go stand in a line that long for hotdogs...they arent spectacular and the paper isnt laced with gold speck....you can get just as good a hot dog (or better) at a streetcar vendor or baseball game...so yes I can say I went but its a tiny hole in the wall place thats really old...I did however, like seeing all the stars pictures on the wall...that was a good thing...my dd still gives me a rotten look everytime you mention pinks:lmao:

2 1/2 hours for a HOT DOG?!?!?!?! Holy cow!!!! Remind me never to go there. LOL Seriously, I'd rather have a dog at the ball park any day! I'm glad you went, but sorry you waited so long.

hey, how were the onion rings??

I'm so excited to hear that Pinkberry is very close to Pink's!
We plan on visiting Pink's on our upcoming trip and now HAVE to try Pinkberry!
I am a huge fan of MTV's The Hills (I am a 40yr. old groupie!:flower3: ...Hey, it keeps me hip....)and Lauren and Lo just were there on the last episode!:cool1:
Thanks for the info.!

How cool is it that my 1,000th post is about my favorite t.v. show and hopefully will be my favorite hot dog and dessert!!!

2-1/2 hours in line? That's unbelievable!

I've lived in L.A. my whole life and I've never had a Pink's hot dog, but everyone else I know has. DH loves their dogs and has been many times, but he's never had to wait in a long line. There's always a line, but DH wouldn't ever wait more than 10 minutes for a hot dog. Maybe the lines are longer now that it's been on the Food Network.

As for Pinkberry, it's a big thing over here. Celebrities are often pictured eating their frozen yogurt in magazines. They just opened one up at our mall. They only have 2 flavors: plain & green tea. At Pinkberry it's all about the toppings!

I live right up the street from Pink's, but haven't eaten there for years. It used to be that you only had to wait 15-20 minutes if you went at off-peak times (early morning, mid-afternoon), but I don't think "off-peak" exists there anymore. Whenever I pass by, the line is humongous -- and I feel like calling out, "It's just a freakin' hot dog, people!!!"

I really don't get the attraction. But then, I've never understood the cult-like devotion to Dodger Dogs, either. :confused3

We went in October... I thought it was neat that they had so many different types of hot dogs.. and they were Yummy!! We didnt wait hardly at all, maybe 5 or 10 minutes..

Pinkberry is YUMMY! I had the plain with strawberries, raspberries and fruity pebbles and I am so craving one now!

It really is all about the toppings!

We were in Hollywood last week doing a bus tour. There was a long line. Apparently, Oprah raves about them. I did take a photo of it with a huge line of people. Not sure how to post a pic yet...

We ate at Pink's on Saturday. The line was wraped around the side of the building. We did not time it but it was about 1 -1.5 hour for the "event".

I call it and "event" as that is what it was for us. It will be a one time thing because it was not "that special". It was okay -- the chili kept reminding me that I should have eaten breakfast that day - over and over again! :guilty:

We had a great time but will not make a special trip out of the way to go there. While we were in line there were a few locals that said that the line was "bad" today because Pink's was on TV the previous night. :sad2:

On Brea, just past Melrose (going north) on the left side. Just a shack... look for the LINE! :rotfl2:

I love Pink's hot dogs, but the wait is just too long!! I would rather go to Tommy's instead... YUMMO!!!

Don't go to the fake Tommies either... The original with the "Y" is the best!

Pink's is an experience.

First of all, you have to go with the right group of people. Yes, I said "group" because you have to be entertained with whoever you are with, so be sure to enjoy your company ;) And secondly, you have to go with the mind set on having an adventure...you may not see a celebrity everytime you go, but who cares, there are plenty of colorful characters in line (especially when you go late on Saturday night). :goodvibes

I have eaten at Pink's numerous times and LOVE the dog's. I used to eat there many years ago when I was student at USC and when I worked in Hollywood.

We like Pink's. I have never waited for more than 15 minutes though. The spicy polish dogs are over the top hot and I feel it all day long. I have a menu scanned but I am not able to post attachments.
