My experience with Mapquest is that it is conservative. It says from door to door to WL from our house in North Charlotte that it is 9 1/2 hours. I can easily make it in 8 1/2 and that includes stopping and eating. And we did it last summer with a 5 month old. So if it says 11+ hours, then that is what I would figure on unless you have to take an excessive amount of breaks, run into traffic or some other hold ups.
I would suggest the Savannah, GA area for a stopover from the Roanoke area. That will be a bit over half way but you will only have about 4 hours the next day.
