I was telling my husband tonight how I'm having "withdrawal." Even though we have a HUGE trip planned to CA this summer and the repositioning cruise home I am missing WDW. So we are talking about going in 3 weeks. Yes, I think we are nuts. But I think it would be cheaper than anything else. We already have our passes, our lodging is by points and we eat out a lot at home so it will only be a bit more. Anyhow....do you think we will have any luck getting anything on Monday if we decide to do this? I am wondering if anyone else has ever booked a trip quickly. Usually we do the 11 months in advance. I must be crazy!!! :bounce:

We booked 6 weeks out for a one bdrm at BWV this May. The day before I called to check and they even had a standard left. No luck when I called. Also received incredible airfare deal..couldn't pass it up. But was happy anyway.

Been there, done that, have the t-shirt :cool1:

Go for it and enjoy! But you may need to be flexible.

Yep...booked 16 days out during February '04 for a last-minute 5-day "quickie". You just may have to be flexible about the accommodations. The only available studios were at OKW at the time (which we love anyway!).

Have fun!

We just did this for exactly the same reasons. We book a few days ago for 5/22. We are in the Northeast and it was cheaper for us to go to WDW for 5 nights than to go to NYC or Boston for a few days. Our homes are at OKW and VWL but we ended up at SSR. Ok with me! :cool1:

Our record is 37 days out... DH informed me that he was aabout to loose vacation time. A cardinal sin around here.... So off we went. We really didnt care where we stayed and waitlisted for every 2 bedroom other than OKW and we eneded up at VWL.

If your open to any resort, you should be fine.

We recently booked the day before! We decided at the last minute to go to Florida to watch our son's HS baseball team in exhibition. They were in Cocoa, but of course, we wanted to stay at WDW. We had to call OKW direct on Saturday morning for a reservation to start Sunday night!

I have been known to book the day I arrived! Called one morning booked a studio and was on the plane by 5 pm.

Yep. Got a studio A OKW the first week of June a few years back that we booked 3 weeks before the arrival date.

Thanks everyone. Now the big question is---should we really go?? :flower:

We usually plan big trips once a year but recently we've gone a bit more frequently. And we were just there mid-January......but I wanna go.... :flower:

Our youngest is 2 1/2 and constantly talks about going to Mickey's house and he wants to play with him, etc. It's just too cute. How can we not take them?

If you have the time and the dime then whatever would be stopping you?
GO!

Because I really do have other places that my money should be spent. And I'll just have to hear the "you're going THERE again?" from the neighbors and friends. But my DH is all for it--that is what is so cool. I just feel a bit guilty sometimes. But then again--life is so busy and stressful---the World is my fun!! Thanks for the encouragement. :flower:

Deb I have to laugh my 2yo does the SAME thing! We have trained them well, ;) . she even found the hidden mickey (3 ornaments) on the xmas tree at Fields.

I have been hinting we really should take her back soon.....

definitely did mind the date before - MS couldn't get one place for the entire 4 days - but since I didn't mind changing - it was fun - OKW, BWV, then back to OKW....

this was before VWL or BCV not to mention SSR.

Now I don't know if I would do - I mean you are homeless now until 4. then when I left one resort I check into the other resort and immediately got a room. too many members now for DVC to do it this way.

We once added a 2 bedroom for Labor Day the day before!

I don't worry about what others say about yet another trip to WDW. I figure they aren't paying my dues...they don't get a say in things. Funny how these same family members are the first ones to piggyback onto our trip for a free stay when they're asked! I don't see them complaining then! As far as other financial obligations...well, thats certainly something to think about. Do what makes you feel comfortable and make the decision something you can sleep with at night. Everyone has a different tolerance level. Best wishes.

Well there was nothing left for us all week unless we changed resorts and I just couldn't do that with 4 kids--one of which has special needs. SO we ended up asking about switching to one of the other WDW resorts. couldn't get into Yacht Club and so DH has always wanted to stay at the GF. So that is where we ended up! He is SO excited. He says he feels rich! We leave in 15 days. Can't believe it. Can't tell our dear 9 year old son or he would be sitting in the van every day and school would be over. ;) The other kids know though. The best part was when my oldest DS11 came over and thanked me for working on the plans to take them back. I honestly thought he didn't want to go. He is getting to the stage where he doesn't always want to do stuff with us. It's not cool. He is even excited! So now we are in the getting ready stage. How cool is that!?!?!?! Thanks all!

We got a studio 8 days before the arrival date at BWV with BW view for a couple last May so yes it can be done.

Just about an hour ago I booked a 2 BR at OKW for a week beginning 5-21. And we just got back from Disney 3 weeks ago.

We got it for $199 for the week with an A/C from II. We have annual passes so it didn't really make sense not to go. :flower: Other than the fact that I am so tired of that trip down there and my DH won't fly. :confused3

I booked 5 nights at OKW over Thanksgiving 3 years ago from a pay phone at the Pigly Wiggly in Florence, SC! I checked in about 9 hours later!

I also booked 4 nights at OKW over Easter 3 years ago from a pay phone at the HHI outlets near the old Disney Catalog Outlet Store. I checked in later that evening!

Anything is possible if you are flexible!
