Hello, my FIL will be coming to DL with us this summer but he will still be on blood thinners. Anyone have any experience with which rides are a no go and which should be fine. Jungle Cruise, etc are obvious but was curious on the thrill rides. THan ks.

No, but I bruise easily and get bruises on my legs and hips literally every time I go to the parks.

Most likely culprits are Space Mtn, Thunder Mtn, Goofy Sky School, and Incredicoaster. But any ride that jerks you around should be avoided. Matterhorn, Maters, Luigis, Millennium Falcon, etc.

I think being on blood thinners doesn’t preclude anything. But, certainly he should know his INR and discuss with the doctor. If he is on blood thinners this is a blood test he should be getting regularly anyway.

Only if he is on warfarin. INR is not used for monitoring for other bloodthinners (don't wan't OP panicking if their family member isn't getting INRs as they may not be appropriate in his case).

I agree with a PP that this depends on a lot of factors including the indication for the blood thinner and which medication(s) are being used. This should be discussed with the health care providers managing his anticoagulation and care.

Don’t underestimate the Jungle Cruise elbow grab.

Not me personally, but I have two family members with similar or the same experience.

My father takes a blood thinner. He does not ride any roller coasters. He rode ToT (at WDW) with me in HS one year and had no problem with that particular ride.

Next, my DD has a chronic health condition and she can have active bleeding and significant bruising. Put simply, she has bad blood. She takes Rx. She rides all thrill rides and has had very little problem. She did notice some light bruising after riding BTMRR (at WDW) and DINO (at WDW too). However, I do not believe she pulled the lap bar down far enough on BTMRR and sort of jostled back and forth a bit more than she should have slid. I do not know if the DLR version of BTMRR has the same safety equipment as WDW. As for DINO, there is no way around getting jerked back and forth.

Based upon the vlogs I have researched it sounds like Matterhorn may be a no go for my DD. She'll be sad but it sounds like it is a very rough ride system. So, we will likely exercise caution on that attraction.

On blood thinners, did Rise and didn't notice any issue. And that is with me hating thrill rides and only pulling myself together because I knew my friends would want to do it Star Wars Nite and I didn't want to freak out in front of them. ;)

I did get a few bruises on my legs, but that was due to the crowds and being hit by a couple of strollers.
