Hi, A newbie here!

I am running/walking the Minnie 5K and 15K. The 5K doesn't worry me, but I am so worried about the 15k.

Has anyone ever been caught by the sweeper? I am afraid it would be really embarrassing. When you are in the theme parks/resort areas, is the sweeper a golf cart?

I need to stop obsessing over this!

Focus on your training. You can do this!!!! I think to a certain degree a touch of worry is good for me because it adds to the push. I was actually swept in the 2005 Half. But at mile 8.5 by the time I saw the bus I was wondering why they kept passing me and not stopping! I was more than ready since i had bitten off more than I could chew in my 1st ever distance race with absolutely no training. Baaaad diane Baaaad LOL

Get in your miles and steps and keep visualizing yourself doing this. Seeing yourself going thru the parks flying on winged shoes :thumbsup2 Even though I had never finished a Disney race I would use my elliptical at home and use Disney music and constantly 'run' the course in my head. Seeing myself going thru the finishline.

Stay focused!!! Go Amy go!!!!!!:cheer2:

Monte what in the world did you say or do to get the pacer to threaten you? Oh and back to 2005. For about a year I had a thing against anyone on a bike :lmao: One day we literally had a guy on a bike say we'd better move a little faster or something and it's a good thing they were riding faster than we were walking or it would have gotten ugly :rotfl: Fast forward and for the most part I have a good relationship with those on bikes. Even nod, smile and say Hi to most at the parks these days. Oh and if some day in a certain marathon you catch sight of a woman wearing a certain bright shirt riding on the handle bars of a bike. it will just be my imagination running away from me LOL

Take care you two!!!

Well said Diane.

Amy do as Diane suggested. Be positive! You've got time to train. Use the time and you WILL make it.

:cheer2:

PS--from what I understand it is not embarrasing. There is a bus and you are asked to hop in. Although I've heard of some harrassing going on to get everyone motivated and moving along the half and full routes this last event.

I think I was inbetween mile marker 20 & 21 when I pacer came up beside me and said "Monica, you have 3 mins. to get to the next mile marker, so you better walk faster, or you're not going to finish". I said, "ok, but let me just grab a water first". (the water table was coming up and I was hot). Anyway he said, "Monica, you don't have time for water, you can get a drink at the next mile marker.....Move it....RUN!!!"! :scared1: So, I starting running, which I don't do, I grabbed a cup of water anyway and threw it on my face and ran as fast as my big dupa could run! :scared: Needless to say I made it to the next mile marker in time and kept up my pace to the finish line. So eventhough the guy was sorta like a drill sergeant, he was a big help to me. lol :rotfl:

LMBO

Was he dressed all in green? I have this picture of one of the Green Army men on a bike riding next to you shouting out orders :lmao:

I'm sooo glad it turned into positive reenforcement and you made like lightening thru to the finish

Diane, wasn't 2005 the year that they closed the MK gates early or something like that? Did you get caught up in that mess?

Amy, as Diane and Lily said, you have time to train for this. You can do it! :thumbsup2

Monte - too funny...although I'm sure it wasn't at the time. We all need a little drill sargeants in our lives every now and then.

Diane - now I have visions of these Toy Story army men hobbling along side of me shouting out orders....forget the bikes!

Yes it was 2005. I actually push a bit harder as I come up to a park because of that now. Especially the MK. But I never relax until I'm IN Epcot proper.

I was swept I think around the Petty course. I think now having done the Full what we saw when we were waiting on the bus was the full Marathoners continuing on.

I think I'm really growing on this Green Drill Sargent idea. :lmao: I can see our own little boot camp of Green Army men shouting our orders. Pick up that pace, race up that hill, step away from that ice cream :rotfl:

Yes we can have one for each team, that way we will be ship shape by marathon time.

First Sgt Panda:hippie:

 But what exactly is your stance on ice cream?

I'm off to the gym tomorrow! Honest!

I have my weekly meeting with my personal trainer this morning:goodvibes ...talk about a drill sergeant! lol
