Anyone ever amend their passport for a name change?

I sent my passport away to amend the name since I got married. I didn't realized that all they do is type something in the back about change of name. Has anyone had problems with using their passport after amending the name on it? It kindof makes me nervous not having the correct name next to my picture. I called and they said no need to take the marriage certificate that it was okay. I know I'm a worrier but someone make me feel better.

Not to worry!! I changed my name on my passport and have had no problems. Put your mind to rest, all will be fine!! Enjoy your cruise!

Don't worry, that's why you amend, to chance your last name and they just put the new name at the inside back of your passport. No big deal. You show the front for the pix, then show the back to show your new last name. You will not have any problem.

Thank you to both of you. I feel better now. Now if I can just get my DH to actually go get his passport we will be doing good.

I have never had a "problem" using mine, but I have had 2 seperate occassions where I have had to say "the name change is in the back" as they look at my ID, look at my passport and then look at me funny. Hubby always laughs saying you would think they would look at the last page before giving you that weird look... But still never had any real issues with it

daisy-- thanks for asking this. I was having the same concern. One thing I'm doing is packing a certified copy of my marriage license with my passport-- just in case! Probably an over abundance of caution, but it makes me feel better-- at least until I use the amended passport a time or two.

I travelled many times to Europe with my "ammended" passport, and never had a problem. When they add the line in the back about your new name, they also add a reference page number in the front so that the inspectors know what page to turn to for the new info. It may take a minute longer to do, but I never had any problems. No worries!

I have been using an amended passport for almost 10 years now. (I renewed just prior to our honeymoon and used my maiden name for the honeymoon and then updated the passport when we got back.) I have traveled on DCL and two international trips, both to South American countries, and I have never had a problem. They never asked for any other documentation.
