Has anyone on here ever actually rented, or knows someone who has rented with the ******? Kinda curious. Kinda like a name your price, possibly. I just don't see this as "safe" as booking with a online broker, but you could possibly save some money?

In the end no matter how you find the owner, it's an agreement between you and them. If they are honest and know what they are doing, and the renter understands the DVC there shouldn't be an issue.

:earsboy: Bill

Plus, even special apps can't make villas appear when there are none to be had. I'd bet a lot of DVC owners who use that site to rent out points have a lot of chuckles when they see what they are being offered for a stay. Why not just use one of the brokers who guarantee you a set price? Or rent them out yourself with you naming your price to sell?

Agreed. I've seen a lot of "want VGF for $11 per point."

SO DO WE ALL.

Got this "offer" a few weeks ago

****** Rental Offer: $2,500 for 1,439 Points at $1.74 per Point (Requires POLY Home Resort)

This was my favorite-wondered if it was
A. A joke
B. A mistake
C. A crazy person who thought DVC owners were desperate to rent their points for way less than MF

Sounds legit.

Maybe now's a good time to "validate my dvc username and password" on that site. What could go wrong??

All you had to do was tell them they were about $16,500 short. At least that much if not more.

I would do Davids for rentals

Better safe than sorry

My DH has a job with the law
A very stickler for detail and crossing all the T's and dotting all the I's.
Making sure all is legit.

Davids has a good iron clad contract
no goofing around

I have been following this site for a while, but have not rented any points. I think the owner is onto a great idea and it is a good platform for sightings and renting. The cheap $1.74pp rental was clearly a mistake and I think that has been fixed already.

I love the idea of this service, I just have not officially rented anything there, but would not hesitate in the future if there is a good offer.

Even the "sane" offers are all $12 per point or so. even inside 7 months, it's not hard to get $14.

They've added a "counter offer" feature, which may help. Or it may not. As a past point renter (not an owner), I now know owners at a few resorts whom I'd feel more comfortable contacting directly if I wanted to rent points. And as a new owner, I don't see myself having points to rent anytime soon, unless I had to change plans due to unforeseen events.

If I was going to rent out, I'd use them if the offer was good. I think it's a new service and it's finding it's way to the best format.

I am a big fan of DVC app as an owner though. I start planning there first to see what's open.
