We have always wanted to go again on the 4th. I am thinking we will get there next year!!! I love the Picture!!!

I'm in my DVC 1-bedroom at the Grand Cal watching the Golden Zephyr and Goofy's Sky School right now. Spent the morning at DL, then had lunch at the Rainforest Cafe. After relaxing a bit this afternoon I plan to head back over to DL to watch the fireworks.

Didn't see any characters dressed differently for the 4th, but wasn't particularly looking for any this morning. The one thing that really surprises me is that there aren't any special 4th of July pins available here. I saw WDW-specific 4th pins when we were there two weeks ago. Why doesn't DL have them here?

That picture is so neat!! I'd love to know if anyone actually sees them dressed like that.

They usually release the pins for holidays a month or 2 before the actual holiday, so they could be sold out by now. According to the Disney pin trading page, there was Mickey with an American Flag released on 5/5.

I think I saw that one this morning at the shop outside Star Tours/Space Mountain. It was really plain--didn't say anything like "4th of July 2011" or anything. The one I saw at WDW two weeks ago was very date/year specific!

Yes. But, I pretty much wish I was there every day. :rotfl2:

Yup! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

And for all of us who wish we were there but are not, let me just say - you guys suck! (j/k) :goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes

I always wish I was there! lol The fireworks here aren't the best, and the locals think they are great. Right now we saw people staking out spots in open fields, two hours before they start. We don't even do that at DL! They must have never been to DLR before. lol We are debating if it's even worth going out and finding a place on the hill somewhere. Nothing compares to some DLR fireworks! Enjoy to all those who are lucky enough to be there today!

wish we were there!!! fireworks sales were banned this year because of the drought. so no fireworks shows for us. HOWEVER, we will be at DL in 32 days and we will get our fireworks fix! :rainbow::rainbow:

can you tell us how crazy crowd levels were today? were you able to get on many rides? what was the longest wait time you had to face?

I know you weren't asking me, but FWIW, we spent the first few hours over at DL and the lines were manageable (except for Star Tours which had about an hour wait), with most rides anywhere from 5 to 15 minute waits.

Headed over to DCA for dinner and walked right onto the Little Mermaid. got in line for Aladdin 10 minutes before the doors opened and only the bottom section was even remotely close to being filled. Grizzly River Run was the exception to what seemed like a really slow day here--the wait time around 5 pm when we passed it was 75 minutes.

I decided to skip the DL fireworks tonight and watch WOC from the balcony of my room. As I type this I can see a handful of people walking past the Zephyr and Jumpin' Jellyfish. Seems pretty slow from my 5th floor view.

I was surprised at how short a lot of the waits were. I was able to pretty much walk on most of the rides I went on. The only one I had to wait for was Roger Rabbit (said 40 minutes at the entrance, but was closer to 25), but I tend to avoid rides with long waits.

The fireworks were nice, with the patriotic music, even I teared up a bit (and I'm not the most patriotic person). I put some pics up on FB, will post more tomorrow. I took 858 pics total, and have to be up early to babysit tomorrow.

Thanks AStamm and halfwaynowhere for your replies! it is very much appreciated. you DIS folks are so helpful! :goodvibes

Wanted to pass along the message about today's crowds in case anyone is considering coming for the 4th next year. Deluxe passholder are NOT blocked today and the difference was very evident! The majority of major attractions had wait times listed around 60 minutes.

I got completely soaked on Splash so decided to come back to the room and change and take a little break before heading back to DL for a few rides and the Magical fireworks tonight.
