Anyone else watching the Bryan Kohberger sentencing today?

Just wondering if any other Disers are watching the sentencing of Bryan Kohberger? I'm already so sad listening to the victim impact statements. And Kohberger is, of course, showing no emotion so far. I wonder if he's even really listening to their words or if he's just zoning out instead.

At one point, it looked like he was slightly nodding his head and it make me feel like he's singing a song in his head or something instead of listening.

That poor dad who just finished. He was so upset that he couldn't even read the things he wanted to read.

I like that this current dad is addressing Kohberger directly and calling him a joke.

I honestly haven't been following closely enough to see what his parents have said about him since this all happened.
I think, what I’ve gathered anyways, is that his parents sympathize with the victims and their families, but they will stand by their son. Initially they believed in his innocence, but I’m not sure what their stance is now since the plea deal.

I have it on in the background but I'm not really watching, it's more for "company." We got back from a week's vacation last night and today I'm feeling generally under the weather, nauseous and shaky. I think I'm just tired from traveling, so I've been spending the morning dozing and doing some low-key things around the house. What little I've heard is heartbreaking, and the whole thing is infuriating. I looked it up and I guess there has been little information released on this, but I guess they will release more information/evidence after today's sentencing.

Yeah. He just looks zoned out and disconnected to me.

I think he is taking in everything so he can spend the rest of his life privately relishing and savoring over all that HE was able to do/the mental and emotional control he has over these families/friends. he did'nt accomplish his goal of commiting the perfect crime and showing up what he perceived as law enforcement well beneath his own intellectual capacity but he left his mark on those families. I get that it's cathartic for those who choose to speak but I don't think, since what is said will have no bearing on the sentencing, that there is any benefit to feeding his sense of accomplishment.

I wonder if Kohberger's parents are in the courtroom for this.

I imagine they are, since they are supporting their son, unless they were advised not to be.

I don't know if they are there but the only thing they have ever supported was his right to the presumption of innocence. from what has been reported locally (we share some of the same local news stations due to proximity) one of the sisters brought up concerns when she observed his behaviours when they all all got together for Christmas and while the father initialy defended his son the family did secretively conduct a search of his car (but law enforcement said they had already observed him doing an extensive detailing so no evidence was present). the parents nor his siblings have ever visited him in custody.

To me, it doesn’t matter what the perpetrator got out of this. That’s irrelevant IMO. His depraved mind will spin it any way he wants anyways. Who cares what he thinks. He’s going to jail forever.

Today was all about the families and friends. It was their time to say their peace, good or bad. Whether or not they directly spoke to him was up to them. But hopefully, they said what they needed to say today to find some peace and move forward with their lives.

I loved it when the judge said that the case was solved due to kohlberger's 'incompetence'. that had to cut him to the core.

I hope Idaho never permits him to be interviewed by the media (it's up to the state department of corrections on each individual request)-he does not need one more iota of attention. the prison he's likely to serve time in does 23 hour per day solitary confinement and can cage for the one hour allowed outside.

I have not watched the trial as it was a busy day at work. I have however watched the documentary on Amazon, and wow! Having lived in Pullman for almost a decade and spent plenty of time in Moscow, I can't help but feel anger and frustration at BK.

it's crazy and sad, idaho has just been victim to so much over the last 6 years that's been unthinkable-

2019-the murders/desecration of tylee ryan and jj vallow followed by the murder of tammy daybell,

2022-the murders of kohlberger's 4 victims,

2025 (just within the past few weeks)-the ambush murders of 2/attempted murder of 1 firefighters.

with the sentencing I hope the families, friends and residents can take a deep breath and enjoy a bit less of the media's attention.
