I haven't packed a thing. We leave in three days. I have to work tomorrow, Thursday is Thanksgiving so we will be at my parents all day, Friday we are decorating the house and putting up the Christmas tree. Did I mention we leave Saturday morning?! :rolleyes1 Anyone else put off packing til the last minute? My packing list is done - I LOVE making lists!! :lovestruc: Oh, and I could be packing right now, but DH hasn't gotten the suitcases out of the attic, and well, DIS is much more fun! :rotfl:

LOL.. I have to pack up this entire place (here at the lake) and be ready to move back to DD's for the winter on Saturday..

Am I done? No..

Am I "close" to being done? No...

Am I "semi-close" to being done? No...

Am I "kinda-sorta-close" to being done? No...

I've packed a few things here and there - packed 4 boxes today - and that's it..

I've really got to get on the ball, but my "get up and go" - "got up and went".. :sad2:

Hopefully I'll get a lot done tomorrow.. Time will tell..;)

Have fun on your trip! :goodvibes

3 days? You have plenty of time. When you said last minute, I was thinking of the way I pack. Car is picking us up in 20 minutes and I'm still shoving things into my bag. :thumbsup2

There isn't much that I pack that I couldn't live without for a week or two if I needed to, so I don't worry much when I pack.

Very last minute packer is my mom. I ususally have negg her is pack we getting ready to leave. She was still packing go New York City midnight and suppose be on the at 3:00 a.m.

I am hyper organized when I travel and packing is always 90% done until the night before. I throw last minute stuff in the night before and put my toothbrush in just as I zip them up.

I always pack the night before. I have a friend who packs *weeks* before a trip and I just don't understand that. I guess she has more clothes than I do. I can't do without my packed clothes for a couple of weeks! Also, I don't have duplicates or travel sizes of my makeup, so that can only be packed the morning of a trip.

I either pack the night before or the morning I'm leaving...I only take a carry on so if it doesn't fit it doesn't go.

I pack way early and sometimes way late.

If I pack early, I find I pack less and forget less. I'm better at coordinating things and have a little time to think things through. I ask myself, "Do I really need that?", and "Do I really want to lug this around for a one time thing?". Quick packing, it's all about filling the suitcase for me.

I love lists too! I check the lists occasionally, mostly I go by memory of the lists. Then review them before it's all said and done. Either way it feels like beat the clock, especially when I forget something or "need" something.

I always pack the night before and I don't make a list.

Me, too. If I try to pack in advance, I just have to unpack anyway when I go through the suitcase to doublecheck that I have everything. ;)

I'm developing that last minute packing habit. Only way I keep myself sane however is to make a list well in advance. Otherwise, I can't concentrate on what I need to pack and end up with no underwear.

Dh absolutely packs at the last minute and without a list, but he only really needs to pack a toothbrush and he would survive a week. :rotfl2: I'm responsible for everything else. ;)

You pack EVERYTHING when closing up for the winter?
We never did that. We had routines for every room in the winter & in the spring for putting things away & keeping out the rodents, but we certainly never emptied the place.

Food, HBA, anything that might freeze & leak in the spring. Covered the furniture. Drained the pipes or added anti-freeze to the toilet. Clothes that might be needed back home for the winter, but summer clothes stayed there. And so on.

Dishes, lamps, linens, towels, and most everything else household stayed there.
Actually, it wasn't really all that much work.

Why do you pack up everything and move it back and forth? That's a lot of work you are creating for yourself.

I pack enough that I have it down to an hour.......
It no longer stresses me out ..........some things I wash & put right back into the suitcase I use most often.

I also have a toiletries bag packed 100% done at all times which makes things so easy.
