Anyone else using upcoming Disney trip as motivation to lose weight?

We have several reason to lose weight. My DH was just diagnosed with diabitis, we are going to the Kenny Chesney concert in July and we have a trip planned in September. We have a wedding to goto too!

I hope this works! LOL

In Jan I planned to lose 50lbs before my Aug trip. Any more than that is a bonus. I did not want to make my goal impossible. I am down 32. I have 4 months left to lose the rest. I think i can lose the rest by then. It is 4 1/2lbs a month. After disney then I have 50-60 till i reach my 40th bday. I have 10 more month to to that after the trip . Please let me do that.

Congratulations on being 32 lbs down! Thats wonderful. May I ask how you're doing this, are you on a specific diet plan?

Good luck with the rest of your weight. With your track record, I'm sure you'll meet your goal.

Personally, I've been stuck at this 11lb. weight loss for 2 weeks now. I'm so upset. I started walking 1/2 hour a day, fast walking up hill, and using light arm weights for high reps to tone the flabby arms. I'm eating only WW meals for lunch & dinner, avoiding snacks after 7, drinking so much water that I swish when I walk. Just keep telling myself to stick with it, and I'll see a huge flush of weight loss sooner or later...oh well...

I'm down 11.5 pounds now, and am on the last week of my gym's "Biggest Loser" competition. So I'm hoping to hit either 13 or 14 pounds by my final weigh-in!

Hey, I just thought I'd pass along what my trainer told me about plateaus. She said that your body will get used to what you're doing, and it will stop making progress. So two things you might want to try are: Take a day off from eating right. This will make your body think that it's no longer being starved, so it now won't mind letting go of some more fat. The other thing is to switch up your work-out. Try bicycling once or twice a week, or just any one thing that's different. It's like it's time to surprise your body and keep it guessing. Good luck!

Thanks, Monique,
I think I'll try that bike riding idea! Good luck with your next weigh-in, too! :goodvibes

I just went to put on my shorts & only my "big" ones fit. This will not do for my Disney trip is in 37 days.

I love it that I can find support here on Dis... you guys have everything.

:thumbsup2

I like all the suggestions...keep them coming!

Weight Watchers. I do best when I have to be weighed in by a complete stranger

Currently, I am at 218 with a goal of 200 by May 19th. That will be an average of 4 1/2 lbs per week --- pretty aggressive goal; however, with proper diet and lots of exercise, I think I can do it! Go Vols!

Count me in!! I joined a gym in March and have been working out 3 or 4 times a week since. I have not noticed a significant loss in weight, but since I am doing a lot of weight training, I have noticed my body is more toned. No more flabby arms yeah! I am not dieting per se just trying to cut out snacks.I have tried dieting with WW and was successful about 4 years ago, lost 30 lbs. but have since gained every lb back:mad: I get really depressed with food deprivation. So I try to make my food choices healthier and drink tons of water. I want to look good for my July Disney trip, I am hoping to be able to wear tanks and shorts and feel comfortable.
We finally have nice weather! So it's out for some yard work today! That should sweat off a few!
Good Luck Everyone :wizard:

hi everyone, newbie here also, 2nd trip to dw coming this august, would really like to lose 40lbs. started walking every night with hubby, he needs to lose due to health issues , i also am the ones always taking the pics, never in them, i have put our last trip pics on the fridge for motivation, i look like a fill in for pooh . so hopefully this will work very hard though like snacking at night. good luck to all . and YES WE ARE WORTH IT!!!!!!

I have been stuck - down 12 lbs - for a few weeks. Trying to stick with the exercise and better eating but weekends are always HARD. Need to lose 18 more by June 21. Keep writing it helps feel not so alone.

in the May 7th issue of First magazine:

Women who are peri or post menopausal lose more abdominal fat if they walk at a slow & steady pace for 45 minutes than if they walk for 20 minutes at a fast pace.

Listening to music (any kind at all) while walking helps women lose "double the testosterone induced belly fat" by reducing the amount of a stress induced hormone that leads to belly fat.

And, cooking with coconut oil (medium chain fatty acids) "has been proven to help women lose up to 40 lbs in a year." Be sure to look for "non-copra oil" and not copra oil..

I don't know if any of these tips work or not, but thought I'd share them.

Good luck to all, and Don't Give Up!

I will happily post weight lost each week. I think that will be another way to keep me accountable. Dh and I have been doing a Biggest Loser competition at my gym for the past 12 weeks, and it is going to be over this week, so I'm scared! I've lost about 12 pounds, and do NOT want to gain any back. I feel so much better than I did 3 months ago, and I still have 35 pounds to go. I know I can do it, and I'm starting to feel like I'm making some real lifestyle changes. And working out is becoming part of my routine!

So after my final weigh-in this week, I'll post my results, and will keep doing it myself each week after that!

This is my first official week. I have about 60lbs to lose ... so it will be a long haul for me - but worth it in the end !!
