Anyone else upset about Norway?

My DH and I love the restaurant at Norway, and eat there once or twice on each trip.

Now, if I understand it correctly, both meals are princess character meals?

Aaargh! What about us adults that want to eat a nice, quiet meal? Was the business at Norway that bad that they felt the character meals would be better? And why both meals?

I'm truly disappointed at this decision. Anyone else upset?

Norway was always one of our favorites, too. We aren't character meal people. Now we skip Norway and go to Chefs du France or Marrakesh.

Yes we are totally disappointed and upset with WDW for this, so much so I sent an email a while ago voicing my opinions! Got a call back but was the usual PR stuff about how it was in response to the need for more charcter dinners etc but couldn't answer why they is nothing at MGM like there used to be!

I'm another who's upset by the number of places that offer only character meals. I don't like eating with all of that commotion going on. I had looked forward to trying lunch at Norway, but not now! There are fewer and fewer options for sit-down meals for people who just want to sit down and eat in a quiet, peaceful place. And yes, some of us who go to WDW do enjoy peace and quiet!

There was a whole list of us yesterday who won't be back, many were loyal customers. Go post on the poll thread - yesteday we were ahead, but today the princesses are definitely winning!!!

Upset doesnt even begin to describe it.I love the place.I do like character meals but Akershus was so different and such an oasis of calm.I wish Fairy Godmother could just wish all those princesses away!! :rotfl2:
Has anyone heard any feedback on the new regime?

I'm so disappointed. What more can I say that others haven't said? But yes, am very sad and am hoping that they will change at least one meal of the day to a normal sitting time instead of all characters, all the time.

Yeah, Scrump, that's how I feel. One character meal is enough - why does it have to be both?

:confused3

Is the food that is on the menu for the PSB Dinner the same food that was served at Akershus (SP??) in the past?

If so how is it??? I looked at the menu for the dinner and I don't think I am going to like it at all!!!

Please tell me it is the best thing you have ever eaten so I don't have to hurt DD's feelings and cancel our PS there!!!

Well, it looks like a Princesses + Norwegian food don't mix, by the comments about the menu....

I could see one of two things:

- the menu goes to chicken fingers and fries
- the princesses magically disappear!!!

Hoping for the second option!

Very upset. We ate there at Restaurant Akershus in December for the first time (it was also our first trip to WDW). We loved it SO much and couldn't wait to go back. The buffet has some many wonderful and tasty items. I loved the Fettucine with chicken and sun dried tomatoes. The desserts were fantastic. I loved the berry tart and the veiled maiden. Everything was delicious and service was wonderful. It was such a great place for a quiet meal. :goodvibes

I don't understand what Disney Princesses have to do with Norway? I thought the purpose of the world showcase restaurants was to expose people to various cultures and the food from the countries. Why can't there just be one character meal? I don't think it's fair to people who loved the restaurant and have no desire to go to a princess meal. :guilty:

And I wonder if a protest would really have an impact? I mean, they are obviously making money on this one, based on the stroller volume outside last week (slow week at the parks)

If the restaurant was normally 1/3 empty during a week like that, they are probably ahead. Consider that a portion of the people going eat very little based on excitement, or not liking the food.... So they probably come out ahead.

The Princess people now have SIX meals effective June 2005 and a Tea!
Is that enough yet? :confused3

Sheesh....bring on the Tarzan, Gaston, Hercules character meal! ;)

We agree, enough with the princesses already! :sad2: BRING BACK THE VILLIAN DINNER!

Guest Relations at Epcot told me last week that families could only do things 'for an hour or so in Epcot' hence the addition!!!! YEAH RIGHT! I went with 2x 3yo's last year and they spent an hour in the Living Seas alone. And that was before Crush came along. Then they loved the Land, so we rode twice. Figment got them a little uneasy, but lunch at Akershus put them right. (Admittedly, the trolls in Maelstrom made them a little upset, and we left soon afterwards, but we could definitely have done more that they would have enjoyed - Mexico, character greets, Innoventions, Spaceship Earth, Ellen's Energy Adventure, etc etc etc)

My husband is beside himself that they no longer have Ringnes beer! He had it last time and said it is his absolute favorite...poor guy.

We ate at Akershus last week and were very disappointed. There is no buffet it is family style appetizers they call a taste of Norway and then you can chose off a very limited menu. There were 5 princesses and it was very crowded and crazy. The princesses spent very little time at the table and it was disorganized. The wait staff was not good either, they kept forgetting our sons mac and cheese and we repeatedly asked for more Norwegian food that finally came when we were ready to leave. DH spoke to a manager and asked why the change from the buffet and he said it was because people were missing the princesses while getting food and it would not change back. The princesses also didn't roam, they visited quickly and then went back into hiding until the next round of families came in to be seated. We ate at 1900 Park Fare last year and it was wonderful. We will stick with this until they get a Villains meal and a Boys meal.

That sounds horrible. I won't be back either. I can't believe that they changed the food presentation/menu, which means I won't even be tempted to put up with the princesses. I don't buy the argument that there is nothing for families to do at Epcot for more than an hour. My kids, since they were little loved Epcot. I could understand offering breakfast there because they didn't serve breakfast in the first place so that alone would have been a revenue enhancer. All I see now is more scrambling for that bottom line. I am irate.

I totally agree with not buying the nothing to do argument, last trip we spent 3 days at Epcot and this time we spent 2 there. It is my favorite park to visit. Where else can you argue with your kids about eating lunch in Germany or China. Germany won btw and that the best meal ever. The kids even liked it and 2 are very picky eaters.
