post after reading it this morning - had a bad day yesterday and had a bit of a rant.

Oh No what have I started....
At the end of the day, I just wanted to know what 2 weeks out of the six in the summer was the best.

Thankyou to everyone that replied,
Jeanette:wave:

..I won't take the kids out of school any more - we did for the first ever trip, thinking it would be the only trip, LOL,:teeth: , but now we go at school hols, preferring Easter/Xmas to summer. We plan well and get up early to get the best out of the busy periods.. I like it busy now, I think the atmosphere is better. If the thought of the 'holidays' scares you, check our Trip Report to see how much we got done in December 2003.

Just thought I'd join in the fun ;) and add my twopence worth. I'm a university lecturer and we have similar restrictions on our holiday time as teachers. We unfortunately do not get as much holiday as the students ;) but at 7 weeks a year it is very generous. However for obvious reasons we can't take holiday during term time. So for the last two times we've been to WDW during the last 2 weeks of August and the first week in September. I have to say that of the three weeks, the first week in September is the quietest in our experience but we didn't find any of the weeks too busy. You do get quite a bit of rain and boy did it rain last year but we still had some fantastic weather :teeth:

another vote for the end of august. However I try to go around the 12-14th so that I get a few good night's sleep and have chance to get my head together before term starts, The parks start to thin our around the 20th but they also start to close earlier with fewer Spectro Magic performances and MK fireworks. We do other stuff in the day time and hit the parks for last few late nights in our first week, then hit the parks in the daytime once the crouds start to die down in week 2.

I'm a teacher too and we went to WDW in the last 2 weeks of August last year (which incidentally was the only 2 weeks out of my summer holiday where I did not end up going in to school to do some work at some point!!) The weather was hot and humid but the place was not crowded. We plan to go at Christmas next time (2005). I know it will be busy but we want to go for the atmosphere.

I will think of all you hard working teachers/lecturers tomorrow as we jet off to Orlando for a well deserved break (we both worked all over Xmas!). Hopefully all you responsible parents will be abiding by the rules and the plane will be devoid of kids (should all be at school) and the parks will be quieter as well

Keep up the good work.

Forecast is 78 degrees tomorrow and no snow

Hope you have a great time John :teeth: We're not at all jealous ;)

I think we've been in all the School hol breaks!!
This year we are going at Easter.
We did this some years ago and found the crowds managable and the weather great. We have also done July/Aug and had no real problems. The only time we enjoyed less (if at all possible!!) was february half term (yes we go for just one week!!).
Oddly it was because the parks were too quiet( ) and in Universal I swear we were the only ones there for a while!!
Also the hours were shorter and I do think as some have already said that some atmosphere is missing if it is too quiet!
the only half term we have not tried is May as I am an examiner and work over this holiday every year.:sunny:

It is difficult when your children are at school.
Our boy is Autistic and goes to a special school, the benefit he gets from the holiday though means there is no problem going out of the normal holidays. The school are okay about it.

We would love to go in August but to be honest it's just too hot and too crowded.
Too crowded at Easter also.

We have settled on late April early May now, because the temperatures are not too stifling, parks are not too busy and fly drive/accomodation prices more reasonable.

Guess October half term would be okay too.

Hi!!

Just wanted to say that we have decided to go for the last 2 weeks of august. Going at a half term isn't enough time to spend loads of money and get around everything:teeth:
Thanks to everyone who replied , and helped us decide:)
Can I say I'm sure we all enjoy our two weeks away at wdw what ever our job happens to be, and thats why we all get together here on the dis to help each other with the planning etc.
