Anyone else think the same as I do?

I don't mind it but usually the guys I see wearing them are usually involved in some kind of sport and wearing them prior, during or after.

Just another thought that maybe the girls might relate to. What about it not fitting right. I have broad shoulders for a female. Shirts that fit me are larger/longer in the sleeves, for me to wear a tshirt and to look somewhat normal, I have to roll the sleeves up. If I don't they come down to my elbows. There is something about shirts fitting tight on my shoulders that I just can't stand. I guess this would not apply to everyone but if they aren't involved in sports/working out, it could be a "feel" thing.

I personally don't mind cutoff sleeves, but this thread reminds me of the episode of the Cosby Show where Dr Huxtable spent $90 on a shirt for Theo. Theo then cuts the sleeves off and comes downstairs before school. Cliff kept his cool, but he told Theo, "Somewhere, some time, you are going to wear those sleeves!"

I remember that show!! I loved this line: "No boy should have a $95 shirt unless he is on stage with his 4 brothers!" :lmao: I thought I was gonna DIE!!

Yes this...my husband has a few shirts like this and he wears them to mow the lawn or work on cars(he installs stereos for fun...lol). He is NOT a redneck and we are not low class...as far as I know:lmao:.......Plus...sometimes if a man has the muscles...why would you complain?;)

Mow the lawn and work on cars - fine. Going out to dinner (where you don't go through the drive through) -not so much.

Have a teenage son who does this all the time. Most guys his age do this. Uses them as work out shirts for the gym, or to play handball or basketball. I have no issue with it. He basically stinks them up..why use a new shirt for a work out.:confused3 He doesn't wear them to school. There's a time and place..as long as he's not wearing them to church or to grandma's..it's not a battle I'm gonna have.
Plus..the guys like to show off a muscle and a tatoo...that's really what it's about!

My dh wore shirts without sleeves before we started dating. After we started dating, the first thing i did was tell him I would not go out with him while he wore one of those shirts. He never wore one again. The last thing i want to see is a man's hairy sweaty armpits hanging out for an airing.

First I never said that guys that wear these shirts ARE red neck or low class, I said it LOOKS red neck and low class...I am sure there are people out there that something bugs them and this happens to be mine...I have the right to think the way I do just as much as you have the right for it not to bug you..

But for me I don't like it and I'll continue to throw them away..they have enough shirts that they won't miss them. and like I said none of my guys work out and they fit well so no need to cut them off except they want too. and if I am buying them I have the right to tell them they can't! If they want a shirt with no sleeves buy a tank!!

ok vent over ..this really isn't big deal, I don't mind other people who think it is ok no problem, you can let your guys wear what they want. But as for me it isn't happening...;) I was just wondering if I was anyone else that thought the same as I do that is all...:goodvibes

Must be a regional thing. You don't see it very often around here.

If somebody is wearing sleeveless workout gear, 99.9999% of the time it is sleeveless Underarmor, although short sleeve is still more common.

I don't think I have ever seen a shirt with the sleeves cut off. I am sure it happens, it just isn't common or "cool."

Actually, Underarmor (sleeveless, short sleeve, cold weather, warm weather) is the standard uniform for little kids on up to adults for all sports or working out.

We should take stock out in Underarmor for what we have spent with that company!

I would notice somebody in cut off sleeves because it would be unusual around here, but I don't think I would immediately jump to redneck. That title would have to be based on the behavior of the individual, not the clothes he/she wears.

What is going to take for some of you to understand that that I think it LOOKS red neck not that I think the person that is wearing it is??? the look it self is what I am talking about!!

Pants on the ground, pants on the ground.

Looking like a {low class red neck} with your pants on the ground...

:lmao:

We all have our things we hate to see, whether or not everyone will admit it. For you it's shirts with sleeves cut off. Not my favorite look, but I'll take that over pants on the ground (and butt cheeks showing) any day! :rotfl2:

LOL that look is not allowed in my house either!! :thumbsup2

that was funny though!!

I'm not fond of the look either. If the sleeveless look is "in," to me it'd just make more sense to buy sleeveless. They used to sell sleeveless (muscle shirts?) for men, but I haven't seen them for a while.

I have some negative feelings about cheerleading as well, but I've known some great cheerleaders. Opinions are just that, opinions.

As long as the man wearing it is fit, I like the look. I think it's sexy, especially with muscular arms. I don't think it 'looks' redneck or low-class at all.

There is usually a difference between the two though and the way they "hang." I personally don't like those, although a good muscle t is nice. There is a huge difference between the two. My sons also like the undershirts like that, they call them wifebeaters.

My dad used to mow the grass in his cut off shirt, cut off jeans, tube socks pulled up to his knees, work boots, and a head band made out of the cut off t-shirt sleeves. It was even funnier when he would trade out the work boots for his Chucks!

I do think the same way you do; it's not a look I prefer on guys. Of course, I live in an area where sleeveless shirts can only be worn about 2 months of the year, so if I lived in a warmer climate, my opinion might very well be different :).

I know about 10 years ago I used to buy my boys (when they were young) sleeveless t-shirts. They were actual t-shirts - not wifebeater undershirts. Maybe this was something they only made for kids? I thought I remembered adults wearing them at that time as well. I haven't seen them in a few years.
