Anyone else think pizza is expensive?

Or am I just really cheap?

I'm just trying to figure out WHY it's so expensive... Since DH and I eat different toppings, we just got 2 mediums and it was $17 with a coupon (Pizza Hut). We could eat out for that!

Now I know why my parents would rarely order pizza for the family... it would set them back at least $30!

Pizza Hut is actually cheap too! Maybe a large, half his way and half yours would be better?

I've been thinking that lately too. It really seems to have gone up quite a bit. The cheap place across the street is $25.00 if you pick it up for 2 larges. Papa John's is close to $40.

I don't think it's too bad. We got a large w/unlimited toppings + cheese sticks for $12.99 + tax etc so it was less than $20. That fed 3 people dinner and then lunch for both DH and I so really we got 5 meals out of it. We also tossed most of the cheese sticks.

There are very few places we can go out to eat for less that $20. All of them are in disney-speak counter service restaurants. We can't get out of a full service place for less than $30.

Where did you get all of that for $12.99? That is not bad!

I have started to pick up my pizza instead of deliver it, since that saves us money too.

I always look for there coupons and signed up with Pizza Huts e-mail specials. I also know that they charge you a little extra if delivered to your home. But it is not as expensive as popcorn and a soda at the movies.

Eh, yeah, can be. Sometimes we get pizza from the place on the corner. $25 for a large pizza, extra cheese and an order of garlic bread. But, we don't do it often and on pizza nights there is no dinner to cook, no dishes to clean and the next day no dishwasher to unload. Worth it to me! :D

There's a chain here called CiCi's where the all you can eat buffet is only $3.99! That's WAY cheaper than ordering from Pizza Hut! :D

It seems like back in the day, pizza was a cheap food alternative.
I can't recall what the price was, but I seem to recall when a buddy and I could go to Pizza Hut and get a large pizza and a pitcher of beer with something like $10. We'd finish both BTW;)

I love pizza so much that I would pay twice as much as they charge at my local place. I have to agree though, it is not cheap.

Pizza gets less expensive the closer you get to a university. I can usually get a large, delivered, for $6 or $7 here. Mm, pizza... :D

I think that it depends on where you live, we can get 2 large pizzas for 14.99 here. Dominoes also has the 5 for 5 bucks deal.

Oh, we have CiCi's but neither DH or myself can tolerate their "pizza"

Good deal if you can, though!

We do Little Caesar's take out for $5.00 per single topping large.

Not the best, but the kids do not complain :)

The local place here has large cheese pies for $6 on Mondays & Tuesdays. At other times they are $9.

Our local place is $8.35 for a large...$1.50 for each topping.

I used to be able to get them at Rutgers (mid-80s) for $4 - $4.50.

My BDF and I went to California Pizza Kitchen a couple weeks ago and with tip the bill was over $60! That seemed expensive to me but we did have a couple of beers and an appetizer. We both decided we like Wolf Gang Puck Express more for gourmet pizza.

Papa John's coupons. I forgot to say that I think pizza can be insane without coupons.

We got that set in the paper but we get tons of pizza coupons. They come in the weekly sale junk mail thing almost every week. They are usually in the Sunday paper and they always give you more taped to the box. We totally ignore the "expires in 30 days" thing since there is no hard date. We've always been able to use the coupon.

It was actually $13.99 I just got my coupons out.

I've got 10 coupons right now the most expensive on is for
1 large with the works and 1 large 2 topping pizza for $17.99, there is one for as little as $8.99.

I know when we order a lot of toppings or "speciality" topping it can get to be expensive. When we need to do that we use a coupon for "the works" and then just remove the stuff we don't like.
