I'm sitting here looking at my pathetic Christmas tree. It has no ornaments or decoration left on it (took that off last weeked.) Just the lights and the tree remain. I just can't seem to bring myself to take it down yet. DH has been bugging me about it and I threatened to pick up some red lights at Walmart and leave it up for Valentines day :rotfl2: We may even start an Easter tree tradition at the rate I'm going :rolleyes1

So anyone else still procrastinating on taking that tree down?

My tree always stays up until Ash Wednesday (March 1 this year). On January 6th I take all the Christmas stuff off and make it a Mardi Gras tree.

Ours came down the day after Christmas.

A certain Great Dane puppy had something to do with that.

No, not mine - but we did just get it off the porch and into the compost pile.

My friend's mom leaves hers up until after Valentine's Day. She takes all the Christmas decorations off at the beginning of February and puts on red lights and hearts!!

My part of taking the tree down is done. (oranments and lights) Now DH has to do his part. He is very picky how the tree goes back into the box. :rotfl:

My tree is still up with all the ornaments and lights. I can't put anything away until DH gets the empty boxes back down from the attic. He's been extremely lazy lately. Never even put the lights on the outside of the house this year. DS10 was very disappointed. :sad1:

::yes:: Ours in the LR is still up.

AND
I leave the girls up all year as a night light in their room. I change the decorations for the season.

 Right here!! To be taken down (what's left of it anyway after the :cat: :cat: got into it and on to it!) sometime this weekend!

My tree is down. Myl in-laws knew to come the day after Christmas to see our tree, same with my parents. One year we had to take a picture of it getting grinded up in the compost machine-when people came over, we had a picture of it on the wall, and told everyone, they were too late. (my whole family is allergic to the tree, but we all tolerate it for about 5 days).

I had planned to take mine down (along with the rest of the Christmas decorations) this past weekend, but I hurt my shoulder and it's too hard to do things one handed, so it will probably be a couple of weeks.

I sure hope none of you have real trees! There was a very tragic event here the other day. A couple were taking down their tree. It was a real tree and very dry. As they were moving it, it touched a lit candle and caught fire. The parents had to move the burning tree because their toddler was on the other side.

A neighbor heard their screams. He broke out a window and turned a hose on the tree. By that time, the father's hands were practically gone. The mother had burns on her hands and face. Fortunately, the toddler was not injured. To make things worse, the mother was scheduled for a C-section later that day.

Real Christmas trees and candles just don't mix.

All the decorations are gone and packed away, but I can't take the tree down (its artificial) because my right shoulder is injured. DH comes home monday and he'll put it away then. Right now, I'm embarrassed to open my front door because people can see it. :upsidedow

We're married to the same man!!!!!! :rotfl2:

Maybe this weekend I'll get boxes to put stuff away in??? :scratchin

Everybody please be careful with your trees now- down here last Monday the news was full of a terrible accident where an Xmas tree accidentally hit a lighted candle and whoosh, it went up in a ball of fire and the couple almost didn't make it out of the house in time....

Here's the info:

A Volusia County couple were critically burned in their home Monday morning when their Christmas tree sparked a fire.

It happened at their home along Hamilton Avenue near Orange City, WESH 2 News reported.

The couple was home with their young son when the Christmas tree apparently fell over on a lit candle. The woman, who is nine months pregnant, was taken by ambulance to the Orlando Regional Medical Center burn unit. Her husband was flown to ORMC, and the boy wasn't hurt.

Neighbors said a passer-by who is a power company worker was first on the scene. The power worker worked to put out the fire with a garden hose until firefighters arrived.

The state fire marshal will investigate, but it appears the fire was an accident.

Firefighters said real Christmas trees should be disposed of, since most are dried out by now.

count me in too. Our tree is still up, decorations, lights and all. I thought about the Valentines day, St. Patricks Day, Easter plan myself. :guilty:
