After all our changing of resorts (quest for most convenient for marathon, and nicest Christmas decorations) we have finally settled on the GF (again!). Just wondering of any other DIS families will be there for the marathon. We'll be there January 5-10 with DH running the full marathon on the 8th. He already qualified for the Boston marathon so hopefully there won't be the pressure on him this time and he'll enjoy it. I know the kids and I will enjoy just being at Disney although it will quite a change for us. We've always gone in July or August so it's going to seem really wierd for us to have coats on in MK! Hope to see some DISers.

We are staying next door at the Poly that weekend. It was a tough decision between GF (my favorite) and the Poly (my son's vote), but we went with a split stay between AKL and the Poly this trip, and my son is signed up for the kid's activities at GF, so I'll still get my chance to wander around GF or go to the spa :cloud9:

That's funny because we were supposed to stay at the Poly and at the last minute switched over to the GF. We're doing the Poly in July though.

We're staying RPC at the GF, but we're only there for Saturday night then we'll drive teh 23 miles up the road to go home. :) You might not need those coats--last year as DH crossed the finish line I met him in shorts and a t-shirt! It was warm--too much so far a marathon, and lots of people had off-times and some couldn't finish due to the heat.

My DH should be in Coral A unless they change things from the past few years.

I'm not sure but I think DH would be in Coral A also. He ran 3:24 full marathon (age 48). I really hope we're in shorts when we greet him at the finish line - guess I'll be packing everything! Wish we were staying RPC but we're just staying garden view this time. We did two weeks lagoon view in July and that ate up a lot of our budget. We'll be staying at the Poly in July - I think we're going to try their concierge though. Got to try something new every time.

A 3:24 will qualify him for Corral A. My DH does around 3:50 +/-, although he was around 4:05 in 2005 due to the heat.

See you there!

We will be at SSR during marathon time. Although not staying at GF my son is signed up for Adventures in Cooking at GF and Albatross Treasure Hunt at YC, b/c Pirate Adventure at GF was booked. I too plan on heading to the spa while ds is cooking, maybe we'll see you there-rebecca

My kids did all three children's activities at the GF when we were there in July and Grand Adventures in Cooking was their absolute favorite. Hope your ds has a wonderful time.

We're tentatively at SSR for NYE, although I'm waitlisted for a studio, so if one comes at any of the other DVC's we;ll be moving.

We've got concert tickets for House of Blues on NYE, and figure it will be easier to just spend the night rather than dodging drunks to get home.

Best case would be a studio at SSR!

That's good to hear about the Adventures in Cooking. My son has only done the tea party and the pirate cruise, so I'll see if he wants to do the cooking activity. ::MickeyMo

You found the pirate adventure booked? That's strange because I called about changing my son's ressie and they had the day of Monday the 9th just about completely open. This was just yesterday. Maybe a group had just cancelled?

My son is booked for the pirate cruise and the Albatross cruise. He hasn't done the Albatross cruise yet, and is really looking forward to it

We might be easy to spot at the marathon. The three kids have sweatshirts with Mickey on them that say "My Dad is Running the Walt Disney World Marthon January 2006". I ordered them from Disney direct and they came out really cute. We'll be at the GF January 5-10.

Cool...I'll remember that when we're over there! While we'll be at the Poly those dates, but I'm sure I'll be getting in my GF time at the restaurants and shops in-between trips to MK. Wow, I am really getting excited about our trip...it's getting so close ! :flower:

It was an awkward weather year. Avg marathon temps are 50s-60s...with extremes being in the 80s (as it was last year) and on the opposite end in the 20s.

Didn't know your hubby was running! He must be speedy for that first corral! I do know they have a red start and blue start for the full this year--and IIRC, someone was saying that the faster runners will be in one color in those corrals and us slow people ;) will be in the other color.

WISH Team is having dinner at Trails End on Friday night if anyone is interested and a bunch of us are staying at various resorts on the property.
