I'm heading down for my first ever marathon (never even done a 5k before). I think I'm ready (guess time will tell). I'm very excited, that's for sure...

It's a long story, but wife and kids won't be going with me - so I fly in Saturday a.m., and will be there till Tuesday. Anyone else doing the trip solo? We could all grab a celebratory BEvERage and congratulate each other on enduring! The only caveat is - you'll probably have to get a head start on the drinking! I'm plodding along at a 5-1/2 hour pace, so I should be back at Epcot just in time to catch a long line for Fish-n-Chips in the UK! ;)

I believe there will be a few people up for a drink--but it will probably be a play it by ear thing. I know that after I ran the marathon in 2010 (my first) I had to willmyself to go back to Epcot for a planned event. If it hadn't been a formal thing, I would have bagged it and drunk the beer I bought to have in my room.

Don't worry about being solo. It's the only way I've ever done any of my Disney race trips (DH is definitely NOT a fan).

If no one ends up drinking, then there is the Boardwalk Bakery meet on Monday morning. 9 am I believe.

Not solo, but it has been my tradition since 2000 to go to Epcot for a MbevAReGe after the races. LOL.
PM'd you if you want to meet up with me and my running buddy. Or me, if he is too tired to get out to a park. haha.

Have only come to two Disney races solo ....DL one year and Princess last year. At DL, I just focused on the race. At Princess, I met a few DISers along the way and it was fun. One of whom I am still in touch with, but she isn't doing the marathon this year. I'm sure she will be thinking of all of us.

I will be traveling to WDW solo, but am meeting up with many of the 3D's. Leaving Sunday night so will not be able to make the BW meet. One year met quite a few runners at R&C, which seemed to be a popular place.

The odds of me making it to the bakery are largely dependent on two things... One is how much fun I have Sunday night, and two is if I'll be able to walk Monday! Is the bakery meet a common /play popular spot? Just curious. New to all this, so still feeling my way around.

Also, ironz, PM'd you back...
