Anyone else receive the survey?

OK, I have a question. Please don't flame me but this is something that crossed my mind when I read about the survey.

If the general perception is that HHI and VB were not that successful for Disney and thus, a mistake, as some have implied, why are they considering all these locations that are nonDisney? Is it possible that what some believe about these 2 resorts is not what Disney thinks? I am honestly just trying to figure it out. I mean, I understand that they can't just build at WDW but wasn't Colorado once considered and then scrapped?

Maybe they have learned from their mistakes. HHI is not on the beach proper...I stayed there once, never again. VB is on the beach, but it's not a good beach, even for walking, and most of the rooms don't have a beach view. I have stayed there several times, always requesting rooms I know have an oceanview, but frankly, there are better places to go for a beach trip. Also, as others have noted, not much to do there...really an upscale town filled mostly with seniors in the winter season, and it's ridiculously hot/humid in the summer. I think I read on this board years ago that kids refer to it as "zero beach."

I have thought about buying these cheap points to use at WDW at the 7-month window, but I don't know how long there'll be the current surplus of rooms on-site.

I got the survey and when I got into it I thought the same thing, Laxmom. Like I said on another thread, who would pay $104 a point for a DVC at Las Vegas? Only to use it a WDW or DL I'm sure.

I think they are considering better locations (somewhat more popular) than Vero and HHI.

As far as Veo being a "failure", here is what happened. Sales at Vero were so slow, that the resort was never fiinished to the original design. There were supposed to be several villas on the other side of the road, via a connecting tunnel. That phase of construction was canceled, and some (maybe all) of the land sold off. Given that, yes, though what exists is a lovely resort, it could be considered by many to be a "failure." Also, constant upkeep of the beach, with the erosion and hurricanes, has been expensive.

I think they are looking at areas with less severe weather as the norm. Vegas, however, certainly does flood from time to time, depending upon where exactly the considered property is located. While a relaxing desert vacation sounds nice, there are just too many reasonably priced options available to make me want to spend points for Vegas.

Cabo sounds interesting to me, or Puerto Vallarta (cheaper airfare from here to PV). I think a Mexico vacation would be fun, given that I would feel more secure at a DVC location, even though I realize it is only a perception.

More popular than HHI? Just kiddin'! Most of Ohio vacations in HHI at some point during the year. Not sure why!

Las Vegas would be the last place I think Disney would look. It just doesn't fit with the Disney business plan to me. I don't think the "build it, they will come" mentality would work with that one. I could see the Mexican resorts as a possibility because of the two new ships coming online in a few years. It has been speculated that 2 would be permanently sailing out of west coast ports and 2 would be on the east coast. A Mexican coastal resort would fit with that speculation as well as the Ko Olina local.

I think there are "placebo" locations on that survey that are not in the running at all but that there are hidden in there a couple serious possibilities.

I haven't received the survey either, but if I did, I would vote for the other Disney parks around the world. The theme parks are the number one drawing card for DVC members. JMO

It was an online survey, you had to enter an access code. It was multiple choice, commments about possible expansion to locations not listed on the survey was not possible, only comments upon the locations given.

I said the same thing on the original thread, I'd prefer more DVC villas in California as well as the other worldwide locations. The points to stay at DL Paris are incredibly high.

I already responded on the other thread about this but would not be interested in any of these locations. Hawaii, TN or New England would be my choices if I could submit my requests. Annmarie

There's really not an advantage to have two threads running. I'm going to close this one, and refer everyone over to the Original thread.

Thanks.
