...Not been contacted by DCL yet?
I know its best to wait and let them contact you, but Im starting to get a bit (ok, a lot) antsy not knowing whats going on. Not to mention DCL has been holding $1000.00 of my money for over 5 months, for a cruise that doesnt exist.
Just wondering if anyone else is in the same boat.

Is this the cruise that people were bumped off because of a charter of the ship??? What date was that cruise again?

They should have notified you by now!!!

MJ

CamColt- I can't believe they haven't contacted you!!! I know it is not real popular to bash DCL on this site but that is dispicable. I would be so upset if they had cancelled my upcoming 10th anniverary celebration cruise and didn't tell me untill the last minute. (It is in October- right?)
PS- I am very sorry about the circumstanceyou are in. It really stinks.

I'm wondering if that date is Oct. 28? I heard that the IRL (Indy Racing League) is holding their awards banquet on the Wonder on that date.

LOL! No cheapmom, its October 05, not 04, so there is still plenty of time. Trust me if it were 04, I wouldnt be waiting. ;)

The 2 cruises that were cancelled were 10/1/05 and 10/8/05 because the Magic is now going into drydock.

We called quite a few times and they assured us things were fine and we were still booked on a Western Carribean cruise, but when my DU agent contacted them, they finally told her that yes, they are going into dry dock and they would contact her about what to do with us. Ive been in contact with her(shes great!) and she has heard nothing yet.
I know waiting is the best thing to do, but Im starting to think DCL has forgotten about me or Ive slipped through the cracks or something. Im just wondering if anyone else is still waiting too....or maybe Im on the list of people to work on the ship that week. :teeth:

Just curious, why is the Magic going into dry dock again? Didn't they just do that recently?

The ships go into dry dock about every 2 years. Come October 2005, it will be 2 years again (time flies when you are wait for your cruise - NOT)

Ships have to dry dock twice in 5 years. The Magic had one in 2000, again in 2003, so MUST go again in 2005. Nat:Pinkbounc

I almost just had a heart attack, since we're on the Magic from 9/25 to 10/2. 2004, that is! :earseek:

So is it that you are holding out hope that they will not go into dry dock?

or are you hoping they will offer you a better deal on an upcoming cruise?

I was planning on going on the October 8th one but my DU agent let me know about the dry dock so I picked another date to apply my money too. I could have been refunded that day if I had wanted to. Guess now I'm wondering if I should have "held out" for some reason.

Is it that they won't give you your money back or what?

Sorry, Marcy! ;)

Unfortunately JC, no, I dont think they will stop dry dock for me, LOL! It would be nice though. ;)
Im not really expecting anything. The people who called and rescheduled as soon as the DD was announced, got offered another cruise in value season for the same price(I actually priced some for less than what we were paying for the Oct cruise). Unfortunately, other than the summer, that was the only week we could go due to the holiday. Summer was my first choice for my 10th anniversary until the California rumor surfaced. So basically either I have to go to California or not sail the Magic at all...something Ive been planning on for years for this anniversary.
Im sure if I called and demanded my money back they would gladly give it, but right now I feel the ball is in their court. They booked me, then cancelled the cruise and had I not read it here, I still wouldnt know about it. Its up to them to take care of this.

Like I said, I was just wondering if anyone else was still waiting.

I don't know what it was decided/released that it was cancelled. However I think that once the change somthing it takes a good bit of time for them to inform everyone, because once one person finds out about it, they start getting flooded with calls of people calling and canceling. I'm guessing this takes away from the people who are supposed to be making the calls to inform people of their trips. If it's only been a few months I would probably wait a bit more, especially if there is no other date you could go. Otherwise call them up and see what they say. I know at WDW when they close a resort the people who waited for a phone call generally made out a bit better than those who called right away and made the changes.

We must realize that the cancelled cruises due to dry dock are not totally DCL's fault. We all want cruise dates announced 18 months or more in advance. DCL has to wait till they have confirmation of the dry dock from the people in Norfolk before it can "for sure" know when it is. SO....they post available dates, and black them out as soon as they have the confirmation from Norfolk.

Now...that said....they do know more than a year in advance....and there's no excuse for not notifying booked passengers as soon as they know.

Dletz, it was announced in mid May. :D Im surprised that there were that many people booked on those 2 cruises so far in advance that its taking this long to contact everyone....unless they have put us on the back burner or something. Thats why Im curious if anyone else is waiting.

Kcashner, I agree. If anything its my own fault for being a compulsive planner and booking so far in advance. ;) But I dont think there is any fault to be found here, things happen and you have to work with it...I just wish they would work with it. Like I said, if it werent for being on the Dis, I would still have no clue its cancelled.

I faintly remember that the last dry dock ended up being shifted around by a few weeks due to the availability of the facility the repairs take place in. Mybe DCL doesn't really know what is happening yet.

We were contacted the week it was announced and switched to the next week.

We were working with DU, though, not DCL directly.

You should call. Perhaps they thought they left a message on your answering machine and misdialed or something.

Camcolt Just curious If you cant sail any other day Why not call DCL and get the ball rolling. They are holding your deposit money after all.
Good Luck with everything. Did you look into doing back to back Wonder cuises.

Crisi we are working with DU too, and my agent hasnt been contacted. Interesting! ;)
Dis4me, yeah we thought about back to back Wonders but weve done the Wonder twice, dont really care for Nassau and the whole reason for doing the 7 day was for the things we havent had before...formal night, semi formal night, character breakfasts, sea days, new ports, etc.. I actually had a 4 day in the summer booked first, but cancelled it becuase I just wasnt happy about it. Ive been looking forward to a 7 day for so long that anything else would be disappointing.
