I'm thinking that if I read all of these wonderful things people are getting for YOAMD, we will go with all of these expectations. Then if we don't get anything when we go next May, it will put a damper on our trip. Don't mean to be a sourpuss, but...

I get jealous, too. But I have stuff they don't have, and they have stuff I don't have, and in the end it all evens out.

I know what you mean. It's a shame for others but it shouldn't ruin anybodies trip. I've stayed on site 3 times in 3 different resorts (2 deluxe) and have never gotten a towel animal or anything special done by housekeeping. Oh well, I make my own magic by getting a basket delivered each time by the Disney Florist>

We figureif it happens GREAT but if the Dream Squad doesn't pick us it is no big deal. Being picked or not picked will not make or break our vacation. :)

I totally agree. I love reading about the magic. I've had magic that was given to us by Cast members before in the past and it's nice to know it's alive and well.

No, we love hearing what great things happen for other people during the YOAMD!! We are going in December and I would love for something special to happen for us, but if not, Im glad that others are getting sprinkled with PixieDust!!

I will not let my DD know about the special things being given out, if we get one great if we don't that's great too, I mean we will be at Disney so it's automatically great!

I enjoy hearing about the stuff that people are getting, I'm happy for them.

I like reading about it, it gives me a warm fuzzy feeling as I'm sitting here trudging along at work. :teeth: I don't care if we get anything or not, but I think it would be cool to watch other families be surprised.

I love hearing about the magic being handed out--no need to be jealous! :sunny:

I learned many years ago that giving is so much more fun than getting, so when I read about what Disney is doing, I get those warm fuzzies inside too.

I just hope I can see someone getting a magical dream.

And like someone else posted, I would love to be the one giving out those dreams. :wizard: :wizard:

One of the most remarkable things i noticed on one of the other threads was that people started talking about little things that made their vacation special- not huge prizes from YOAMD. Just conversations with CMs that resulted in a small bonus like an extra fastpass or a free pin, or dessert. I don't get jealous when I hear about these things, I get excited. On the past few trips I have taken to WDW, we have been so caught up on seeing everything and doing everything that we havn't taken the time to talk to the CMs. I have definately taken these wonderful people for granted- they aren't just ther to make sure rides run on time, or take our pictures- they are chosen to add to the magic. I still remember a really great CM from my first trip when I was 7!
It seem slike they are really pulling out all the stops this year and i think it helps to notice the people who make it all happen.

:sad2: I'm very, very jealous :sad2:

But, I comfort myself knowing that 1., we're spending eight days at the parks and the odds are in our favor, and 2., we've had so many magical moments, I need to put my pettiness aside and just enjoy the ride, and 3., watching the joy in others really is almost as fun, so 4., I will just get over myself and be the better person and not give into my demons!

Although I would LOVE to be on the Dream Squad!! My family is already trying to come up with ways to do the little things that make other people have a better time, like letting someone else go in front in line, opening doors, sharing shady spots, letting smaller people in front so they can see better, smiling at everyone, staying in a good mood, that sort of thing.

peace,
figgy

My husband thinks that it is strange that I love watching shows where other people are winning something. (Price is Right, Extreme Home Makeover, etc) He can't understand why "I waste my time".

It really isn't his cup of tea but it sure is mine. I would love to win something but I get so much enjoyment watching someone else win something. I feel happiness and joy and sometimes my eyes fill to the brim watching someone win something special.

So when I read about the winners on this board I am delighted. I am going in early Dec and here is my take on the situation. I could win something - I could even win one of the big prizes! (The lottery is possible too!) I may not win something and that would be ok. I really hope that I am able to witness someone else winning because that would add to the magic of my vacation.

I'm with you. This will be our 25th trip. The last 24 have been great without any special "dreams". So I don't want to know, don't want to think, that anything special might happen. It might change my expectations of the trip-just want to go and be happy. If I know of all these special "dreams", I might go with expectations and then be disappointed. Hmmmmmm[fingers in ears]-I hear nothing,[squeezing my eyes shut]-I see nothing, I'm just gonna go and have a great time!

I think it's human to be envious or jealous.....you can't help it......I would LOVE to have something even if it was just a pin....that would be awesome!! But if not, I'll buy my own souvineir and when I come home, I'll plan our NEXT trip, haha.....no worries....

We leave in 29 days 11 hours and 50 min but who's counting right? :thumbsup2

I enjoy reading them, they give me the warm fuzzies!

We are going in December, first trip for our kids, they have no idea they are going, it is going to be so incredibly special as it is. If we get a dream, awesome, if we don't, we are still preparing (well I am preparing since no one else knows they are going!) for the vacation of our lives in 68 short days!

I love reading about the Dreams being received. My family isn't on the DIS boards so they have no idea of all the great things that are happening right now. So when we go in November if we are fortunate enough it will be a huge surprise to my family. And if it doesn't and we get to enjoy another family getting a surprise I know my family will be very happy for them. It's a win-win for me.

I also think it's somewhat contagious. Many people are already speaking of spreading the Pixie Dust and that's great for all!!! I can't wait to do my part as well...

I'm not going in expecting anything special because just going again is good enough for us!! We are not telling the kids about yoamd because we don't want them to get worked up expecting something to happen. I also like hearing people's stories...most have been fast passes, pins, and free food so no worries is it doesn't happen.
