Anyone else not really care about view?

The view is not very important to me. I'd prefer not to be looking at a rooftop but other than that it doesn't matter much to me. I'm not one to pay more for a certain view. I care more about location of the resort, park time, etc. And I never put in a room request. I like the surprise of seeing where we end up. I guess I'd rather leave it in their magical hands.

AKL would probably be an exception to this. I haven't stayed there but if I do it could definitely factor in.

I don't care about the view, either. We aren't in the room that much, and when we are, we don't open the curtains.

I don't particulary.

I mostly do standard, sometimes I'll go ahead and do garden view but it's kinda a toss up at value and mod as there are no balconies and who wants to leave thier shades open when the whole world is walking by. I'm only doing garden view on my Oct trip because my mom wanted to not face the parking lot. (trip after is a value trip and I told her if she's tagging along she didn't get a choice:rotfl: so it's a standard)

At beach club I paid for garden view and was on the second floor, exactly at the height of the big old tree that grew in front of my balcony. yeah that was money well spent. LOL

Nope, don't care about the view either. I'm more worried about it being close to the bus, food court, etc. Don't want to hike to some of those far outlying buildings!

This time we don't have to worry, as staying at POFQ for the first time and it seems like everything is close! I didn't put in a request other than upper floor--leaving it to the room assignment gods where we end up! We did end up getting a garden view this time, but that was only because I had to in order to get the free dining. Standard would have been fine, but worth the little extra to get the dining plan for free.

I don't either, even at AKL. I would totally book a pool view if I stayed there. There are soooo many other places to look at animals all over the resort.

Now, I'm not saying I can't appreciate a good view though. We stayed at YC and had booked a standard view CL room and were upgraded to a lagoon view CL room, and the view was gorgeous!!! However, my view was "free" and I would not opt to pay for it. :goodvibes

I don't care unless we are at the Poly-then I want to be able to watch Wishes in my Pjs on my balcony!

I was like all of you until sevral years ago. We booked at the Swan with a teachers code. Got into the room late that night of arrival. Well about 5am the next morning I was awakened by the trash pickup truck banging away at the trash bin. Then the backup alarms started. I looked out our window and saw we were just a few floors above the loading/receiving dock and trash area. That same morning I went to the front desk and asked to be moved and was tolded that they we're booked solid and nothing was available. So be it. From that point on I've always paid more for a better view room. I've not heard backup alarms or trash trucks since. It's worth the cost to me now.

We didn't used to care, because we spent almost no time in the rooms. But this trip is all about view for us...

As mentioned by a PP, my only concern with view is that sometimes standard means being awakened by service vehicles and staff. That happened to us once at WL and it was a little annoying. We were right over the walkway near the arcade and it got loud every night and every morning.

I paid for GV at YC CL last year, and I won't do that again. While it was nice to look out over the gazebo while I drank my morning coffee, it wasn't worth the extra expense. I'll stick with standard view and roll the dice on service vehicles.

Not that we spend a lot of time in our room but. We love a Boardwalk view. Having a morning cup of coffee watching Disney come to life is oh so relaxing. Seeing the Friendship launches going out tells me it time to hit the parks. We also come back to our room for lunch. If it's not too hot we can sit and people watch, love to people watch.
Something I really look forward to is ending my night watching fireworks from our balcony. In the distance you can see Magic Kingdoms and Epcot is right next door.

I definitely wouldn't pay the extra money for a view at a value or mod. Not with the public walkways immediately outside the window.

But if we are at a deluxe, I definitely do care about the view, and am happy to pay extra for it. .

If there was some kind of specific view to be had (such as Savannah View at AKL or Theme Park View at Contemp) then I'd care about it, but definitely not the usual garden/pool/water view situation. I'm like a PP in that I don't even open my curtains - all I see of the "view" is when I'm walking in and out my room door! And since we don't stay Deluxe at the moment, I'm fine with wherever we're put.

I couldn't care less about view.

I always pay for a preferred room when staying on property but the only time I would ever care about view (and probably not even then) is if I were in Hawaii.

I would never pay $100 more a night to have a theme park view.

I don't care about the view unless I'm at AKL or Kidani. Then I definitely want savannah. Otherwise it doesn't matter because we are never in our room during any fireworks times anyway.

I don't care too much about the view, within reason. I don't want to be facing a parking lot, or bus area, baggage area, ideally - I don't like the added noise. Typically this has lead me to pick the mid-level view, I don't want the worst view, and I'm not fussy about having the best view (since having the best view would cost more). When staying at AKL OOP, I would select the pool view (once again, a mid-level category).

Since we got our Disney Vacation Club timeshare, we have pretty good control over the view since they have categories, standard view, lake view, boardwalk view, savannah view, etc. We've been fortunate, we have had enough points to try a multitude of views last year. The BLT theme park view is amazing. The BWV Boardwalk View is also awesome. We've also had savannah rooms, also very cool, and we used points rather than paying cash. I'm sure we will also try the AKL Value category in the future.

If it ever makes the difference between going to Disney or not going to Disney, I think I would settle for whatever room we could afford.

I never used to care -- in fact, I used to tell people not to waste their money on the view (lol). However, once we were upgraded at BC to a lagoon view with full balcony -- oh my gosh it was wonderful. But...still, I wouldn't fork out the extra money for the view on our next trip....until we decided to try CL at CR and were upgraded to a TPV. Wow it was far better than words could describe...watching the Castle change colors from bed each night was simply amazing. :cloud9: Then our most recent trip we decided that since we got a great AP discount for Poly and it was the 4th of July week that we would book TPV to ensure watching the special Wishes shows each night from our room -- after this stay, I'm positive I will never be able to book a standard/garden view again. It was the most amazing trip ever, and I do think it had a lot to do with our room.

So...we used to not care about the room view at all. Until we were upgraded a couple times....now we are pretty much ruined at booking the standard views anymore...

I can appreciate a nice view if we're surprised with one. We actually had a gorgeous view at SSR last year. And.... I think I looked out it once. The first day. To take pics. We are never in the room enough to enjoy a view. To us, there are so many nice places to hang out and enjoy Disney at the resorts other than the room.

I do agree with the PP who would pay for a view at Poly. I could definitely see myself hanging out on the balcony in my pjs watching Wishes. :cloud9:

View deosnt matter to me I'm never in the room anyway. I like to request a good location though that's what matters.
