Never seen Pool Deck food places open until 9?
Never seen Pool Deck food places open until 9?
I feel this in my bones. I know some of my extended travel group will be upset at me, but next time we do a cruise on a classic ship I am going to skip out on "family dinner" that night in favor of my wife and I just getting burgers from room service. We also are not interested in the dinner shows - new or old ones. We just sailed 15 nights on the Magic. 4 of those nights had some sort of Rapunzel show. Which meant that some assorted characters interrupted our dinner on all those nights. I honestly have zero interest in chatting with Flynn Rider. DCL needs a non interaction seating area!
And, so many of the seats in the dining rooms have a bad view of the stage that it’s hard to follow along if you get a bad table. If you were interested in the show!
Clearly I need to stay up later and hang out on the Pool Deck! Great news . . . for late night munchies. Thanks!
Picture is different on different ships... and I expect even different itineraries. I know many in Southern Europe are use to eating really late to begin with.
But for the WISH in the Bahamas...

Late night snacking is limited...
A few years ago (even after COVID) on Dream (assume Fantasy would as well) they did do a small Late-Night Bar Buffet (finger food) in the District.
I think the newer ships are just designed to be less "late night".
They don't want you skipping the dining room in favor of tacos. It's absolutely ridiculous that the Cantina and BBQ - two of the biggest positives about the Wish - close so early.

Why would they care what you eat as long as you are a satisfied customer who feels you have options to eat in an environment you like? They don't want you skipping the dining room in favor of tacos.
Why? They would save more money if you just had tacos. They don't want you skipping the dining room in favor of tacos.
It's amazing how other cruise lines have multiple restaurants, fast food and buffet open at night.Labor costs. Aren't the casual dining venues manned by a lot of the same crew who work the MDRs? So they'd have to hire more crew, right?
But I mean how many of those lines have dedicated service teams for every stateroom vs "anytime dining" or some other model? Disney's model assumes every stateroom goes to their assigned mdr every night. And there's often a significant entertainment budget going to that mdr experience. I'm not saying it can't be done, I'm saying Disney has turned that mdr experience into a major selling point. If enough guests ask for it or take their money elsewhere, I'm sure they'll find a way to accommodate, but Wish and Magic classes have seen a massive upgrade in mdr experiences, not the other way around. It's amazing how other cruise lines have multiple restaurants, fast food and buffet open at night.
We all know what Disney's dinner service model is. Obviously they would have to change that model if guests want other options and they decide to accommodate that. The Wish and Magic dinner service being an upgrade is subjective as evidenced by this 7 page thread. But I mean how many of those lines have dedicated service teams for every stateroom vs "anytime dining" or some other model? You would have to ask DCL that question not me.
You're confusing me. Why do you first say that they don't want you to skip the dining room and then say basically that you don't know why. How did you arrive at the conclusion that they didn't want you to skip the dining room? They don't want you skipping the dining room in favor of tacos.
