Anyone else NOT doing Black Friday??

Because of the topsy-turvy and iffy situation regarding my dh's future round of layoffs in his company coming in the next few months, I am putting a halt on conspicuous consumption of goods this year and forgoing my usual foray into Holiday sales en masse.

I'm going to do most of our Christmas shopping in the middle of December. Anyone else forgoing the retail extravaganza this year?

There is no sale on earth that coud make me brace black Friday crowds. I'll enjoy the day with leftovers and possibly some internet shopping.

I'm not planning to go out, although I do need some new clothes for myself and I have gift cards for Macy's. So I may go out at some point to take advantage of the sales and the gift cards.

As far as buying for others, we are not doing regular Christmas this year. Both my parents and my DH and I are talking about moving in 2009 so the last thing we need is to be spending money and getting more stuff!

I'm not going. I kinda wish I was, at least for a little while, but I have nobody to keep my kids for me. I don't do the retail extravaganza thing, but there are some things that I really would like to get---like our traditional Christmas Eve jammies which Walmart is having a great deal on, and Fred Meyer's half price socks.

I have to work. Even if I was off, NO WAY in h*ll would I be out at 4am fighting the crowds.... I'll still be in the bed then!!

The only Black Friday shopping I'm going to do will be a quick stop at CVS to get my 2 "free" items. Then I'll be going to work. I figure it's better to make a little extra money now while I can.

I've worked everyday this week as opposed to my usual Saturday and Sunday. Hey, at least now I can buy that digital camera I want!

DH & I might go out to Macy's to use some extreme discounts for really useful stuff for ourselves - like underwear.

No way would I go out early in the morning for "stuff"!

I work every black friday, as it is the easiest day of the year....I would rather have dental surgery without Novocaine then come within 500 yards of a store!!!

I've yet to do BF, but it is certainly not happening this year. I encourage everyone else to do it though... might help the economy.

Same here.....You couldn't pay me enough to get up early and go shopping with all those crowds!! I am not a fan of getting up early and I'm really not a fan of crowds.

I may hit Tractor Supply for some horse food, but that's not really shopping...

I've never done and never felt like I wanted to. It sounds crazy! I want to enjoy christmas shopping, not want to kill myself due to the crowds!!

Nope--I don't do Black Friday at all. I used to work in retail and I REFUSE to participate in the craziness that goes on that day. DH had somebody pitch a tent outside his store on WEDS NIGHT!!!! for Black Friday.

I would rather spend the extra money than go into those crazy stores. Sorry, not for me. The closest to shopping I'll be doing is stopping in to Starbucks for my coffee.
