I know there's talk of Magic Bands and charging, but I've never charged anything to my room. I bring gift cards, my VISA rewards card, and cash. And in October, I charged just one meal directly to my VISA card. Last time I got a blank receipt via Email from one resort and never got anything from the other resort (split stay). And being DVC, there's never a room charge. I love these "free" trips, or at least trips that are paid for before I go back home. Anyone else?

Not us. We charge just about everything to the room. It just makes life easier, especially with teenagers.

I usually have enough gift cards, plus my Visa rewards card, to pay for everything so I stop by the Front Desk to pay off my account from time to time.

Disney rarely gets access to my credit cards anymore.

I don't put a card on the room.

I often use gift cards.

My credit card was compromised a few years back and I just stopped doing the charge thing with Disney.

They still get my money - lots of it!

I agree. Similar problem happened to me when using a credit card at AKL. I now either use gift cards or charge to room. I do however put a card on the room and have never had a problem there.

In general it is something we have never done. Occasionally at the pool or sometimes when the kids were younger because they got a kick out of doing it but overall we don't do it very much. For me it seems I too easily lose track of how much we are spending. In the old days I used traveler's checks and I really liked that. Now I use gift cards or take a smaller amounts of cash with me.

We charge to the room this year at F&W because we went with other friends who were staying in our room and we all just charged everything to the MB. I will say that was quite convenient but I did completely lose track of how much I was spending.

We seems to be in the minority, but I am not a big fan of room charging.

Revised: We typically do NOT charge to the room. The only reason I could think of in favor of charging to the room, in our situation, might be for merchandise to double the "reward" credits offered by our CC. (Travel related charges, ie the hotel, gets a better reward than merchandise.)

Dining, however, always goes to the CC directly as it dining trumps travel.

Rarely charge to the room and until this last trip declined to give the resort my credit card...all because of a mistake (which Disney quickly and nicely fixed) on my bill a bunch of trips/years back--while it was fixed, it was a pain and a time issue since I didn't see the problem til I looked at the statement the morning of check-out and there was quite a long line at the front desk--created a time problem. So, I just stopped giving 'em a credit card and that pretty much guaranteed no mistakes...

This last time, tho, in my travails trying to get set up w/my disney experience (have I mentioned how much I despise my disney experience?) and get magic bands, I wound up giving them a credit card...and it turned out to be just plain easy to charge to the room using the magic band for things like snacks from Artists Pointe...tried to use the magic band at one restaurant, but it didn't work (waitress said it was a "temperamental" scanner); after that it seemed just easier to give the waitress my credit card when she brought the check...

Probably will go back to not giving Disney my credit card...altho it is awfully convenient to not have to pull out other forms of payment when stopping for a mickey bar or bottle of water...but Disney having my CC on file makes me nervous, so I'll probably revert to my old habits...

Like a PP, this doesn't change the amount of money I spend at all...I just put it directly on my CC (or Disney Rewards card or pay cash) rather than having the resort put it on my credit card!

We have never chaged to the room either. We save the cash at home, bring our Disney Credit Card, Rewards Card, and Gift Cards. We just use those while down there and pay off the card with cash when we get home.

We charge everything to the room so we have a detailed receipt of all of our purchases. We pay the room tab with discounted gift cards or rewards dollars.

:earsboy: Bill

We also charge everything to the room in order to have a detailed listing of all charges. I keep all receipts in a zippered bag (which is in my small backpack at all times). About halfway thru trip will request a printout of all charges to that point and match the receipts/printout. At that point, I usually pay down our balance with gift cards/Disney rewards card. Morning of checkout I do the same routine for the latter half of trip....sometimes I can't get everything totally checked, but, at least I've got all the receipts and the printout...if I can't get it done before we head to airport...I do it on the plane coming home. I believe I only needed to call Disney one time and it was rectified within minutes. I would rather only hand our credit card over once to the front desk at check-in rather than take the chance of it being compromised from multiple uses....at least if it does get compromised I know EXACTLY where it was compromised.

We never charge to the room. We use Disney gift cards and cash on our trips.

Add us to always charge everything to our room. We were hesitant at first, but started years ago and it works great for us. We go often and find this works for us. If we feel overwhelmed we just stop by the desk and request a print out. Now with the new pin required for using the room charge, it's nice to have that added security on it. Before we would worry about losing a room card (which we have done), but quickly reported it. We like having a print out of all of our charges. Plus I use my Disney rewards cc to earn my Disney dollars.

We also do not charge to the room or even leave a credit card on file there.

We always charge to the room and love the convenience and especially with the Magicbands. The best was using it at the pool, no worry about stolen or lost money or KTTW.

Add me to never charged to my room. It's just as easy to use my debit card as it is a room key.

We were eager to try the MB's for charging, though. However, the "system was down" when we checked in and they were unable to link a card to the MB's. Oh well.

DW and I only charge something to the room in two different conditions.
1. we over spend our normal daily limit.
2. unexpected family member visit and we take them out for a meal.

We don't leave a credit card on file. We buy Disney gift cards through DS Script program at school and bring cash. The one and only time I left a credit card on file became a mess and time I don't want to spend while on vacation fixing mistakes.

Same for me, first trip home in 2007...never give them a card

we rarely had charging on our cards, the main reason being that anyone who found them could use them. while we've found others' room keys (as well as cameras, wallets, handbags, etc ) & promptly turned them in, we didn't want to assume anyone else would do the same.
the MBs (difficult to lose) & PIN helped change our minds however :thumbsup2
we still use a CC for bonus dining points, and for items that we want CC purchase protection on (wyland pieces mainly), but really preferred using the MBs for mini-golf, snacks, etc.
i agree with PPs: do not wait until check-out day to get a print-out of charges. it's much easier to catch & fix any mistakes before.
