noones coming over ( :teeth: ) so we will put the turkey in the oven and cook the other goodies over the course of the day (dh did the pie yesterday :thumbsup2 ) so for the most part it will be lounging in jammies, watching some videos, and starting to decorate the christmas tree.

anyone else looking forward to a low-key day?

That would be me! :thumbsup2 We decided at the last minute we didn't feel like travelling to both families, so we ordered our holiday feast from Boston Market (pick up around noon) and we're going to watch movies, and put the tree up. :teeth:

Me too! Our family is on the West coast and this is our first Thanksgiving since moving to VA. We're by ourselves (family of 5). But it's kinda nice....no stress. DH is cooking and we're going to the movies later to see Deck the Halls.

It's just Mom & me this year. DH is in Iraq. He leaves to come home for R & R on Monday!!!!!!!!!!! I will have his fav pumpkin pie ready when he arrives...then off to our Disney cruise!

We are REALLY doidng something different. DH and I are just about ready to head out the door for a 2 hour drive up to Mt Pleasant and the Soaring Eagle Casino and Resort. My brother and SIL along with their kids are joining us. My 86 yr old mom is also going! The icing on the cake is my son and his bride to be are also driving in from Kalamazoo this evening for the night!

We are going to enjoy a buffet dinner today and play the slots! Nothing like quality family time!!!

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Oh that sounds like fun! I wish we were doing that, but we're driving down and spending the day with family.

Count us in!!! Last year for the first time we stayed home and didn't travel to my extended family. It was pure heaven!!! We're doing the same thing this year. DH is roasting a turkey, DS and I are making the pumpkin pie and we picked up the rolls from Great Harvest, the stuffing and mashed potatoes from one of our favorite restaurants, and the rest is super simple. LOVE Thanksgiving at home!!

Then after eating we'll put up the tree, turn on the Christmas music and maybe watch a few Christmas movies since the "season" officially starts in my family after Thanksgiving dinner is done.

Bliss!!!

(Oh - and I have NO intention of getting out of my jammies until sometime tomorrow. :thumbsup2 )

DH and I are going to my DD's where my DSIL is cooking the entire meal. He loves to cook and I figure why deprive him of the pleasure. He's a really good cook too!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

We're also relaxing at home today. DH has a friend over, DS will most likely have a neighbor/friend over later today. I'll be going to see my neighbor/friends (sons friends mother) as soon as I get in the shower. We have Black Friday planning to do. Will be home later for the turkey. This afternoon will be spent either on the internet, watching a movie, reading a Christmas book or any combination of that.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving everyone !

We're staying home today! Just DH, DS10 and me. My mom moved out of state earlier this year so it is just us. DH is going to cook a small turkey and a few sides and that's it!

We might go visit DH's friend's mom & dad later today. His friend was killed over the summer so we try to go by and see his parents from time to time. Of course it is strange to go and not see DH's friend, but his parents treat DH like their own son so it is important to us to see them.

There will be 5 of us cooking, watching tv, and eating today. I'm very happy with that. :goodvibes

Us too!!! It's just the two of us. I figure I should get dressed around noon. DH is starting the turkey now. I love holidays like this!!

We usually go to my sister's for Thanksgiving but her kids are all going to their spouses families this year so my mom--for the first time in 10 years--decided she really wanted to do a small Thanksgiving for Sis, DH, and I. I bought the rolls the other day, made a salad and devilled eggs this morning and now I'm just bumming around until this afternoon. It's really great but it feels weird to have nothing in the oven. :teeth:

Ah, well, the laundry's done, the dishwasher is running, and in a bit I'll do some vacuuming and dusting so DH and I can do something fun tomorrow. I'm loving this holiday!

DFi has to work tomorrow and closest family is 500 miles away, so we're staying put. We're not even having turkey. We went to whole foods yesterday and got some filet mignon and a bunch of pre-made sides. I will make some sweet potato caserole though.

We were thinking about going to a movie somewhere, we'll see.

Ahhh...that sounds so awesome!!! I have a crowd here and will have to go in a minute...but I just said to DH last night...one day, I would just like to do absolutely nothing on Thanksgiving......ZERO, NOTHING, lounge around with jammies on sounds "heavenly", watch movies, everyone gets whatever they want, NO WORRIES!!!!

HAVE FUN, BARKLEY!!! :woohoo:

Taking it nice and easy today too. Just DH and I for dinner. I can take my sweet time getting everything ready. Will put the turkey in around noon and then relax and watch some football.

Yup!
Just my parents coming over and mom's doing the cooking. With the exception of mom doing the cooking, it'll just be like any other time my parents come over for dinner.
