Just wondering if there are any other Canadian Pavillion CM parents here? :goodvibes
Our son is there until next summer!

where is your son working at Canadian pavilion? i will be there nov 20 would love to say hallo where are you from in canada?

My daughter finished her year in February, she loved it, but it was quite an adjustment coming home. She is still great friends with many of the people she worked with, and they continue to try and get together

Nope but I was somebody's kid there at one time. 17 years later still close with many of my friends. It's an amazing experience for young people .

I can already see how life at home is so different than there & I agree-it would be quite the adjustment! Does your daughter miss working there? I think it is such a great opportunity to meet so many new people

She misses it very much, there was a couple of last day ceremonies on Tuesday, Your son would probably know them, since my daughter was Merch as well. Anyway, she skyped herself in, and she is actually in some of the pictures, on someone's tablet. They do get that close, many of them are meeting this weekend for a Halloween party. Life long friendships for sure, but the back home adjustment is definitely difficult.

I will have to ask him, he take part in all the throw in' and other thing that are planned, he love that part of his time there :goodvibes

the Canadian store? if you want to send a package you could mail it to me and i can bring it to him personally or is there a special canadian treat he would like to have?

Yes..the Canadian store!
Thanks so much for the offer--we were just there and stocked him up on kraft dinner (the one thing he misses from home..lol) and we go back at xmas so he should be good for now!

My daughter would love the opportunity to do that. I've not given it any thought until reading this thread. Can you tell me how she'd go about applying for this opportunity?

Just a thought--Sprocket1020 had asked if I wanted to send anything to my ds who is working at the Canadian Pavillion (I don't because we were just there and took stuff) but if anyone ever wants to take something for the Canadian kids working hard to share the magic-- I know they do love anything with the Maple Leaf or Canada logo on it.

They love to represent their country outside of work (all together now..awwww!) and my son requested anything screaming Canada. So I took temporary tattoo's, some banners and other assorted dollar store goodies-basically the left over Canada day stuff..lol!

So just an idea if your are ever wondering!
I'm taking them timbits in Dec :)

Two of my sons worked there for a year and loved it! They both worked as servers in Le Cellier. It's hard work but you can make good tips.

The really cool thing to me is that they both met their future wives there; one was married two years ago and the other was married almost exactly a year ago. It's nice for me (as a big Disney fan) to know my sons are married to Disney fans.

Yes, life long friends. I was a cultural rep 24 yrs ago and still have my Disney friends. Coming home was a huge adjustment. Hopefully, your daughter has Disney friends who are home too. Talking to them can really help. It is hard to turn off the Disney magic at home, after eating and breathing Disney 24/7.

I read over some of the info and I have some questions for you former reps and moms of people doing this now or have done it-any info is very much appreciated as my ds has always wanted to do this and is 15 right now so I am looking to the future...

What is the approx percentage of their pay going to housing-50%? 70%? 40%? I guess I am wondering how much ends up in pocket after a typical week-is it enough to buy grocieries etc?

Are they given passes for the parks or can they come and go at their leisure on free time or not at all? I see the one time fee is $154 for activities but does that cover the stuff they do together as a group in the housing area or parks too?

What happens if you hate it and want to leave-are you contractually obliged to fulfill the year?
