Anyone else hear 180 days is coming back?

While booking a package for August today, I was told by the CM to keep my eyes open, that Disney may go back to an 180 day window as early as March.

Sounds strange to me since they just changed it .... Anyone else hear this rumor?

It is very unlikely. Until such time as there is a lot more stability in the ourism market it is unlikely that Disney will change back to the 180 days. This way they only have to post park hours 3-4 months out and not 6-7 months and it allows them more flexability.

Also, you may have been talking to a person in Houston, Salt Lake City, North Carolina or Tampa, as well as Orlando. And when there are changes forthcoming usually only senior management is aware of them in advance. And we have enough people here on DisBoards who work at WDW, including DRC, that we will tend to get very accurate information quickly.

That's the gist of what the CM told me, too. I don't put any stock into it, it's just interesting speculation. I will be constantly checking online for changes, deals, etc., anyway, so it won't change my habits at all

While I don't have any reason to think this DRC agent was any more "in the know" about potential changes than anyone else, she was a good one who seemed to know a lot about WDW. She's planning her wedding at the BWI, and we had a nice chat about that. And she managed to sell me a dining package, too. Imagine that!

Maybe it is because of the economy that they would go back to the 180 day window, thereby encouraging people to book farther in advance, and giving Disney a slightly better idea of bookings going forward.

When I just booked, I asked if it was 90 days for ADR's. My CM told me to watch in March because she thought that they would be possilby going back to 180 days. Weird that March is a common theme....maybe there is something to this

Well, nothing has changed yet.

I believe the ORIGINAL PLAN was that leading up to the new system, the window would be collapsed mainly to reduce the amount of ADRs that needed to be made while they worked out getting the new system online. Then it would go back to 180 once they were fully on the new system.

That got pushed back, and then pushed back again.

The new system is only, but is ONLY being used for ADRs on or after May 26th (although Chef Mickey, CRT and V&A can be booked as far as June 19th and may still be on the old system).

The only thing really being expected in March (middle of the month I think) is the online ADR system. but I'm not holding my breath that it will be ready on time.

I can foresee them staying at 90 days AT LEAST until certain upcoming milestones are reached - the most likely one being that they are fully using the new system (dubbed "a la carte") which occurs on either May 26th or June 20th.

After that point they can decide what they want it to be. But I think 90 days is good.
