Anyone else have to evaluate themselves for their review?

We have to fill out a self-evalation form before our annual review and I absolutely hate it!!

We have to list our most successful and least successful job accomplishments as well our strengths and weaknesses.

Of course if you think you have any weaknesses you don't want to put them on your review for your boss to pick apart!

Anyone else have to fill something like this out for work?

yup. we have to evaluate ourselves too. it can be good in some ways (you can highlight something you did that the reviewer might not know a lot about), but it sure can be frustrating too. good luck.

Yep. I hated it too. I always tried to second guess what my supervisor was going to rate me and then i rated myself one below that.

I hated it.. I didn't want to rate myself awesome on everything, but I didn't want to look like a mess either.

ugh. Yep, we have them too. I used to get so worked up about them when I had a less than stellar boss. It is a little better now that I have a boss who actually wants to see me succeed.

Yeah we just had to do midyear evaluations against objectives we wrote at the beginning of the year. When it comes to weaknesses I always try to put a spin on it like "Was challenged while completing project A because of limited knowledge of X. While I successfully completed project A I look forward to gaining more knowledge of X through future assignments"

All the time! And being my own worst critic, I inevitably rate myself worse than my boss. Kind of makes for an ego boost when I get to the formal evaluation with my boss!

My boss just hands me my evaluation and tells me to write it. Then he tells me I am too hard on myself and edits it.

Yep. We write a self-evaluation in March. It includes our accomplishments for the past year and our objectives for the next year. We are also asked to rate our performance against last year's objectives.

It winds it's way though our labyrinth of management and round about this time of year we finally get the review finalized!

I have and it stinks! We've had to evaluate ourselves, list our accomplishments for the past year and list our goals for the coming year. We always thought that we should put down our main goal as treading water and not sinking!

I have to do this too and I hate it. I just always figured my boss was too lazy to actually figure out what I do! I don't really have to rate myself, but list all of the projects I worked on, training received, etc. I put EVERYTHING down. Of course I evaluate myself but don't get to give myself the raise I deserve!!

My dh has to do this. He always brings it home and I 'help' him with it. It's kind of a game with us. We give him the highest marks for each area and then we have to come up with reasons why he deserves the highest marks. Since David certainly is an asset to his company most of the marks are easy to justify but we have to stretch for others and that is where the fun comes in, lol. We do it partly tonge in cheek and the reviewer has to be getting a few laughs when they read it. What has surprised both of us is how David's true strong points which were often over looked in the past have suddenly been getting attention since we've started doing this.
