Anyone else have reservations in September and airlines are messing it up?

I have qualms about our flight on Southwest as it doesn’t currently exist this month. It starts in early September, so if it gets cut we’ll have maybe 2 weeks to change plans.

We had a June/July itinerary that changed 9 times, both before and during our trip. Going forward, I try to book flights that are currently flying in the hopes they won’t be canceled.

Yes I could... but the other airlines are twice the cost and five times the hassle on baggage and no guarantee of empty middle seats... all making me want to stick with Southwest. And as I live well east of Rochester, the Buffalo airport is a 2 hour drive for me and I intended to be dropped off to save $100 in parking... so the night before just works out better.

But oh boy read your change notices carefully since the rescheduled, at least on Southwest, doesn't seem to re-validate the itineraries!

We fly out of Newburgh Ny which is a small airport-Jet Blue stopped flying from them for Aug and Sept., our flight is in October, so far a go....but who knows at this point! If not, I guess we'll head to Newark, the only thing is, we will save $ on the flight out of Newark, but Stewart is only 10 minutes from our house, which is great!

Did yu check the other airlines or consider the drive to Buffalo?

I wouldn’t count on any better flights from Buffalo. The way airlines are changing things, you could book from here & still get screwed. Our nonstops from Buffalo for mid September were changed to connecting flights, then changed some more. And 2 weeks ago, SW cancelled our itinerary completely. There are still connecting flights listed on our dates, but our points were suddenly refunded & 2 days later we got an email saying our itinerary was cancelled.

With the NY quarantine orders, we were gonna cancel anyway, so I didn’t fight them on it. Just shows that things are not necessarily better from other cities.

OP, you're not alone. We had nonstops in both directions on Southwest. They were changed to flights with a plane change (changing planes is not usually a big deal, but to me, that's double the # of people we could be exposed to). The nonstops have been added back to the schedule for later in the year, but not for our time to travel.
Looked at other airlines and Jetblue and Frontier have taken their nonstops out of play as well. In fact, I think JetBlue cut that route completely out of their schedule. So, it's happening all around.
I've heard good things about SW maintaining good policies on their flights. That's my only ray of hope.

I cancelled my flight last night, I'm going to drive. I was going to book on United or American for $165 RT from Norfolk, which is 20 minutes from me as opposed to Richmond, which is 90 minutes from me, but that price is deceiving, because I would have to upgrade for another $135 to be able to bring a carry on and check a bag. Now, I can put as much luggage as I want in my car for free, bring groceries to my DVC villa, and control my timing and destination.

Yeah SW has changed our flights three times. Each time they take us off a nonstop and put us on a connector. Then I jump in the website and hunt down a different nonstop for same date. We're 48 days away from trip and I'm just praying they don't screw us up again.
