I don't know if it was the fog, the full moon cycle or it being Friday the 13th, but work was a nightmare!
I work at a high school and the kids do get themselves all worked up by the end of the week especially it being a long weekend, but today it just never ended . . .
First, I walk in at 7:00 and find out my co-worker is out sick
(she had a stressful day the day before and she probably tied too many on.)
Before 1st period had ended there was a full investigation going on across the hall because one of the kids went to the lav and when he came back his IPOD was mysteriously missing out of his backpack . . .so one by one security was interviewing the 20 students in my office conference room. Next a "chick" fight broke out upstairs and the poor girl got all scratched up and was bleeding . . .Then two male students had to have a mediation because one of the students wanted to kick the other student's butt because he broke up with his sister and made her upset.
In the middle of the day this elderly woman comes strolling in, don't even know where she came from, had no visitors tag on or anything and spoke broken english . . .she wanted to know if this was the ice rink?
I was like um noooooooo the ice rink is up the street.
Then she seemed to be confused and wanted to know about group lessons and public skating . . .(I must have 411 written all over my face). So I was kind of enough to give her the number to the rink and told her to contact them for info . . .but I'm still not sure where the heck she came from . . .
The weirdest thing of the entire day was a man walked into the main office and asked to see one of the 1997 yearbooks . . .I guess according to the main office secretaries he was pretty shady . . .anyhow, he asked if he can buy it and was told no, that it wasn't for sale that we needed it in archive. He then took the yearbook and ran out of the office and out the front door.
So basically, at 2:00 when all the children had gone home for the weekend, I locked up my office door and turned off the light and took a few deep breaths and thanked god I was leaving at 3:15.
Anyone else have a strange day?
