I have a weird phobia anyone else with an unusual phobia.

Here is mine - I have a fear of rubberbands. I must have been hurt by one real bad when I was young because to watch me rubberband something is so funny.

People at work will come and watch me to get a good laugh. I will hold what I need to band as far away from me as possible and then put the band on with my face averted from the offending rubberband. It is so funny. :lmao:

wooden lolly (popsicle) sticks in the mouth - eeew!! I go all goose pimply thinking about it, I think it stems from always getting a sore throat as a kid and the Doc always sticking one back my mouth to see me throat, makes me gag

Basements.

I'll move mountains to avoid basements.

OMG! This is mine, too! I cannot stand to see someone putting that wooden stick into their mouth. I used to only buy ones with plastic sticks, but I can't find them anymore. I can't bear to watch my kids eat popsicles. Dh will pull the stick between his teeth just to watch me squirm. Ugh! I shiver just thinking about this!

I do the same thing with canned biscuits.

When I'm in a huge room (like our break room at work) I have to sit as far back in the room as possible and I have to face the room. I can't stand to have my back to the room. Our upstairs cafe seating at work I have two tables I can sit at; both are in corners...if they are filled when I go up there for lunch I get all panicky about where I'll sit.

I REFUSE to open canned biscuits. I always make DH do it, and I have to leave the room. One time he opened a can and it was the kind that you have to press the seam to open and he wouldn't do it for me. So I through the can against the wall and it opened. :thumbsup2

Oh dear I have 2 phobias now. I can relate with this. I can't stand to be in the middle of people. If I get on an elevator I have to be against the wall, when I go to the haunted mansion I have to be as close to the wall as possible. I think because I'm short and don't like all those people around me...that's my story and I'm sticking to it. :rotfl:

Ooooh....I also cant do cotton in my mouth....like cotton balls, terry cloth, etc......the thought of it rubbing against my teeth makes me crazy!

vomit, the sight, the sound of someone vomitting, knowing someone is doing it in the area....you get the picture. I do everything in my power to avoid it. My family knows how I'm about it and gives me a heads up on movies, tv shows, etc that may have someone getting sick in it. Even if it's fake I still can't handle it. Even if I don't see it or hear it first hand I still get an uneasy uncomfortable feeling just knowing that someone has vomitted in the area, if I hear it or see it I start to feel sick myself, like I'm going to be sick to my stomach also. Ugh just thinking about it is making me feel yucky.

this is the only thing that stopped me from ever being a nurse :rolleyes2

Ooh - this is me, too! I can't stand to see people chew on wood - toothpicks, popsicle sticks, etc. I can't even use those little wooden spoons you get w/ ice cream cups.

Both my DH & my sister will try to skeeve me out by chewing on a toothpick or popsicle stick. :scared: :faint: :crazy2:

I also hate popping balloons or when you squeak balloons, that sound they make gives me the shivers and just sets me off. Makes me want to carry a pin at all times! I also hate canned biscuits and from now on when my husband won't do it for me, I'm going to throw it at a wall :thumbsup2 . I also hate surprises of any sort. I hate to be surprised. Just let me know what's going on and I'll give you my best "fake surprised performance."

Im terrified of bees - scared poop-less.

Im terrified of ghosts (although Ive never seen one) When my mom passed away, I fully expected to "see" her in the few days following it - but I didnt. So, now the thought of it - even though it's my mom, scares me (again) poop-less. I think she knows not to make an "appearance" as I will go into cardiac arrest and be right there next to her. And I aint kidding....

I also (and this one is weird) dislike holes. They bug me. I cant even describe it to you, but it makes me feel *icky* Anyone ever see that Urban Legend picture of a South American Breast Rash? It was DISGUSTING (turns out it was a lotus pod, super imposed with a you-know-what) But that stinking picture bothered me for WEEKS! It was just stuck in my head.... Yeah, holes disgust me. :confused3

My GF won't touch the cotton in medicine bottles. She hates the sound it makes. She said she even cut the bottom out of one to get the pills out because there wasn't anyone around to take the cotton out.

I do the same thing. I try to be all big and brave and begin to open the biscuits, but then I chicken out and make my SO do it.

My sister is terrified of rubber bands because of me. One time I was pretending to shoot one at her and it accidentally slipped from my thumb and I shot her in the face. She had a huge welt and now runs and cringes anytime a rubberband is around. I feel so bad!!!

I also can't stand the write with a sharpie marker or hear anyone write with a sharpie marker.

Isnt this thread interesting???

Like the canned biscuits thing - I totally dont get it. Im not sure what youre "scared" of.

But then, I have the holes thing, and I cant even describe how much they bother me - and you all prolly think Im a whack job!!! :scared:
