Free Dining starts on august 26th and we will be leaving on august 25th - hope we miss a lot of those crowds! :thumbsup2

I am! :thumbsup2 We're leaving on 8/25 too, and are only planning one or two TS meals, but I am pretty thrilled we won't have to endure extra long waits for seating because throngs of people are spending the evening lingering over their free apps, meals, and desserts.

Yep. I know it's a good deal, but personally we don't eat at that many table service restaurants (twice in one trip is the max). It started last year the week after we were there and the crowds didn't seem too bad. Hoping for the same this year.

For those getting free dining, have a great trip & enjoy!!

Going Aug. 15-24. All I can say is that we DIDN'T miss it! The UK folks and the Bounce Back folks will be there during most of August and purchased the FDD. The only reason that it wasn't available to the public would be is that the target amount of people have purchased this promotion already with these two earlier promotions, so there was no need to offer it to the general public now. So the free diners will be there--along with us, the folks who didn't get the free dining and didn't couldn't use the 40% off pin because of our dates.

My vacation is set for the week after free dining ends and the week before the food and wine festival starts. I'm hoping for a week of low crowds.

It wont have ended for the uk holiday makers...we are there sept 24th to Oct 8th with 14 days free dinning (just glad I have already booked all my ADRS!!:yay:

I'll join you in that hope. Haven't booked yet, but should get the go-ahead by the end of the week, and our dates are Oct 3 - 13.

We'll be there on tAugust 22nd until the 30...so we are just going to do a lot of CS meals. Besides, we leave on 30th for a 3 day Disney cruise...so we'll eat good then!!!!!

We'll be there BEFORE it starts May 27th - June 5th and while I'm expecting it to be crowded I'm happy the restaurants won't be completely mobbed and we got all the ADR's we wanted!! WOOHOO!!

We were there last year and it wasn't crowded at all. :confused3
The restaurants were busy though.
We were going to get dining anyway free or not. I would linger over my food MUCH longer if I paid for it. ;)
I actually kind of wished there were no free dining this year. We wanted to go in Nov but, I just can't pass up this deal. Our little Ds will be turning 2 on our trip too so it works out for us. It is just so HOT in Sept.

But you are going during a busier time to begin with. The times that they offer free dining are times when the crowds are lighter to begin with. So I figure even with free dining, the crowds will be lighter in September than they would be in August.

Free dining IS during your time period though--just not available to the general public. Which probably means they booked enough free dining packages with bounce back and UK residents, and there was no need to offer it to general public.

Plus:

1) This year value season started earlier in August.
2) Pirate and Princess party in August only--families may have booked in August for this alone.
3) 40% off discount code some people received, in addition to bounce back and UK free dining promo.
4) Schools in Florida starting back later this year (there's been some speculation that's also why no free dining to general public in August).

In other words August=crowded!! ;)

That's ok - we'll still be at Disney! :thumbsup2 This is our third August trip and we are used to the heat and the crowds. Not too many times now when it ISN'T crowded!

Jill

I totally agree Jill, when is Disney not crowded these days.

We'll see you at the Boardwalk! Aug 19-24 2007!

Can't you people allow us a bit of self comforting in thinking it might be a bit quieter?...even if we are slightly delusional? :teeth:

Harleyquinn - I think it's the august extreme heat and humidity that makes us delusional! :rolleyes1

satman1962 - the Boardwalk is our most favorite resort! We usually split our stays, but in august it's just too darn hot so we stay in one spot - our favorite spot! Maybe we'll see you there! :thumbsup2

I thought free dining was being offered to the general public starting on Thursday??? Or is this what you're talking about??? Have I missed something??? :confused3

FYI- I will be enjoying the free dining promo and can't wait til thursday to arrive so I can call and modify my reservation. As for lingering over your "free" food I think the majority of us who are going to be enjoying this delightful promo will not linger over our "free food" anymore as if it were paid for. I think alot of us had originally booked our september trips with the dining plan included in our ressie but are going to call on thursday to modify our existing reservation. My family doesn't linger over any food- whether it be at home or away on vacation. If you seen my two teenage sons you would thing other wise. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
